New seats for Dover

I saw these in Dover today.
Better than nothing I suppose.

- 18 September 2011 16:23127079Ive seen them too and thought they were awaiting collection for the tip..they are particularly awful. Even if they were put beside the pub door or wall it wouldnt look so bad, but they are way out on a wide pavement.Spoils the view of that lovely pub!! heh heh!
Ah ..The Castle Inn, thats the one with ace hacker Paul McMullan at the helm. In a phone near you !!

The dullness and misery behind the seafront, which was a vibrant part of the town many moons ago could do with a miracle..........

Gateway Flats - a fine example of Russian architecture, built as council flats and still look it and yet they take up valuable prime land.
The wonderful replica of the Berlin Wall which surrounds parts of our time.
The superb tower block better known as Burlington House.
The discovery centre a genuine replica of a gas works even down to the dome at the back.
These wonderful structures are semi-permanent and we have to see them practically everyday.
Paul's chairs no doubt get put back in the pub every night and yet some of you are whingeing about them being there at all, how sad. - 18 September 2011 18:02127101I'm failing to understand the logic here, if the Gateway flats are ugly and Burlington House is ugly does that somehow make these chairs beautiful? Because we have monstrosities already in place it doesnt mean we can abandon sensible planning logic about other aspects of the town and let it go all to hell. The argument doesnt make sense.

I honestly thought initially they had been put out for collection.

It's funny as they are the design antithesis of the collection of objects seen in the photograph above. - 18 September 2011 19:30127113The Gateway is souless..isolated...gated.......no community...the French style of placing commercial bussle...........i.e. shops, restaurants....etc..on the ground floor of their flats, creates it own community..........these are designed like the Eastern European Communist blocks...so no wonder they feel so at home here....
The seats show a bit of flair, fun....design ...a place for people to sit..!!after the trug past the rubble/misery of the dual carriagewayTownwall Street... etc. etc.....
I do not need to say much more.......in the 25 years it has been left, a fantastic park etc...could be there now...
I am all for a all year round Tivoli Park...like on the Continent..remember we are Europeans
