It will be interesting to see whether the Vatican continues to deny that St. Mark is Peter the Apostle's real Successor, Howard.

Howard, that was good of you to read the long religious lesson, thank goodness I gave up being force fed that kind of stuff when I left school.

Jan, I doubt you were taught that at school, because the knowledge comes from my own research.
You couldn't have heard something before it was found out and made public.

Yes, I don't know what to think, I have gotten used to living under the threat of the white smoke having my name on it. It is something of a pity that this all is getting the X-Factor treatment. A little mystery in life goes a long way to taking the edge off.

Well now that was a nice try peter
and a good lot of back tracking once the flak started.
now, it appears in very early days the pope held some views that may not have fitted in with the general views of the followers.
and he wasn't frightened to share them.
I won't get heavily into my childhood and being dragged(sorry i mean educated)through the catholic system

Jan, post 28:
"My studies show me that St Mark"... should read: "the Evangelist". He is the first Evangelist and wrote the first Petrine version of the Gospel. So he is St. Peter's successor.
This is the shorter version, hope you managed to read it all!

No I read as far as "My studies show me that St Mark" and that was enough for me and I refuse to read any further.

not so much religion itself but the minority of fanatics that twist the teachings to suit themselves.
