Good stuff this is what I mean

Been nice knowing you :)
I have looked at this web-site.....the DDC..... and it is confusing...
perhaps on purpose....
The was a town councillor who went mad on the flowers...but we have dead trees stuck in buckets...or metal containers..there is one close to Wetherspoons and the tin baskets on the lampposts never seem to have anything alive in them...
Paul aka Scotchie you could say people cannot care fore their pavements because the bins have taken over....
All is bits....not making a whole....and you have a huge list of not happening....
Burlington House....Townwall Street.....Cambridge Terrace....the shop next to Wetherspoons that was a Party Shop.....The underpass...leading to King Street...and King Street....
Tunnel the Dual Carriageway......and Toll It....you could get them on Pollution, Noise destruction and seperation of the Town and its way of life......and so on....
I wrote to Charlie Elphike and asked why we were punished for living in Dover...was it because the Leader of the Council had failed as an MP twice, and nothing really constructive happened under him....he has been around since 1983..........Charlie said, in so many words..... things will happened........one day
But there is a mantra.......which the people who are born and bred in Dover use....it makes me laugh....because they always add it...like Vic Matcham does...
Not in my (our) lifetime.....so they know something we do not

Regarding post #19 caring for pavements, this is a very simple thing everyone could do. I always pick up litter in front of my house, it only takes a few seconds and if everyone did it, it would make a tremendous difference to the state of our streets. Sadly they don't.
I don't think anyone doubts the hard work and committment of most of our local councillors. What is in question is the decision making process and structure within Dover local authority functions. There is no doubt that Dover is neglected in an official way despite huge support, moral and practical, from a number of locals in an informal way - I think what people want to know is why and who is accountable for that.
absolutley Bern . I dont really have any thoughts about payment or not for councellors . When I held a similar post it was expenses only , but that is not an implication that DDC positions should be

The top management must ultimately be responsible, maybe we need a change.

I try to be neutral and polite but it is hard and getting even more difficult at times.

sorry to hear that susan, thought you would have been active in a union.
i can hear it now "bruvver nicholas this meeting is convened to adress issues of aspirations, demarkation and the intrasigence of management that are breaking human rights laws in not allowing you to wear a hat during working hours".

That strike next Wednesday will be interesting with the full council meeting.
Will the officers be present ? will Labour councillors cross the picket line ?
Could be a short meeting.

bit of an unknown this one, do we know if the officers are intending to take action or inaction depending which way you look at it?
i would have thought that red councillors would cross the picket line, the national leadership does not support the strike.

with regard to wednesday, lets hope this is the last dispute and both sides settle down to serious talks, it appears many national union leaders are saying lets get wednesday out the way and in weeks iron out real agreements.
the govt (tory side) is not helping with its confrontational stand
meaningful talks and soon required.
no doubt roger has no problems crossing any picket lines wednesday
sure the workforce will remember that one

Under the present circumstances, I think the offer on the table is more than fair Keith and yes you are right, I have no problem crossing any picket line; this is a pointless strike and will cost the country and the work-force dear - it is totally unnecessary.

Posts 37, 38 and 39 are drivel.
My post 36 has nothing to do with Maggie Brian, other than it's a very sensible thing to say.
The offer is fair - the public sector pensions are already higher than the private sector and the Government are offering to make it even better.
Nothing to do with Victorian either as it is exactly the opposite, where the workers are getting better pensions.
This is a very socialist approach - to increase the pensions of the workers.
