Well I was told by the C.S.M.(company Sgt/major)that he did not know why I was send to him as I was not trained up I was not much use to him.Anyway I was told to go and get my kit and move in to the C,company block find a bed and report back after roll call next morning.
I had done that within the hour so found myself with nothing to do for the rest of the day I still had to report each day in the morning and at night time to the duty officer because I had to stay in the camp because of that fight.
So I went to the gym for a workout they had a boxing gym at the camp (Still in use today)as I had done some boxing before at school I found myself at home in there .
As I was warming up a N.C.O.came in and asked what and why I was there.
I told him the story about myself and as luck would have it ,he said I could carry on and come down anytime I could .
He was watching me work out and punching the bag etc.
"You have done this before ,have you ever boxed before.?
"Yes before joining the Army but not done a lot."
"Would you like to box again?"
Well moving on I found myself boxing training again. The full cpl of the gym went and saw the C,S,M, of C Company and asked him,can we have Matcham to train for the Regiment boxing team.
"You can have him if we have no work for him only to please to get rid of him."
So that is what happen ,each day after roll call I reported to the company office if they had no work for me then it was off to he gym for the day if it had not been for the pains in my back and legs all was going along OK .
As it turned out there was lots of work for me in moving out the gear from the bks in Canterbury over to Shorncliffe.
But I did find myself doing a lot of night guard dutys and it was a very big camp to walk around at night

And one night when walking round about 0200hrs in the morning I was going round the MT yard where all the lorrys etc where parked overnight it was raining and I found a truck with its door open so got in to keep out of the rain.
