Showing my age now, Black Sabbath hit the news today as reaching number 1 with there new album after 43 years!!!
Remember them(some would/some wouldn't like the music)
Just looking back, I showed my boy(who's 18)some of the many groups I followed in earlier years,
When I showed him one on you tube, Alex Harvey band, it was clear the lead singer was on something lol
and the 2 backing guitarists couldn't even coordinate together
It's funny watching it now, but it was a drug crazed time(not me I might add lol)
looking now at the number of groups who had so many number 1 hits, yet members of the bands died.
Leading member of the SWEET lots of hits, but died very young
plus lots more
but then we can look to others who took a different route,
Look at SLADE very popular band who originated from Birmingham, had many number 1 hits, produced a xmas song that is reproduced every year.
The lead sing noddy holder gave up, did a bit of acting, TV stuff, but on interview he said he doesn't need to work he can live off the royalties of the Christmas song each year!!!!

Sweet were from Wolverhampton near by but anyone from Wolverhampton would be upset if you said they were from Brummie

Never mind youtube Keith, show your lad your dressing-up box, that'll surely scare the loons off him. As all the bands you mention were ones that liked to glam-up.

Sadly john you have decided to ridicule rather than pick up on the subject,
OK so maybe it was Wolverhampton but not important in the thread heading

To get back to the thread title,
On top of all that Slade(without noddy holder) still tours the country and can be seen at the lea's from time to time
Funny though tom many used to dress up look at Leo Sayer way he started dressed up, once famous he then took all the make up off.
Marc Bolan to, dressed up but good music

Ridicule?
Keith it appears you're very happy to dish it out but are hypersensitive at the same time.

Slow down a teensy bit Keith, less haste more speed and all that. MB ran his car into a tree.
