I've already started promoting the museum annual entrance ticket among my friends in Dover, noting that it also has a children's display room for parents to take their children along.
If we all do the same, it can make a difference.

I agree Howard and a number of Councillors have asked the same question, that is why they are now putting out a press release.

roger;
i'm not sure what your saying here, re you saying as part of the majority party running DDC you were not informed?
is that because;
1; your leader didn't tell you
2; the officers made a decisiun without telling the tory run admin?
either way it dont sound good
this was quite a major change from the last election and realy surprized not announced by your party to get it out the way.

If you read the post a couple of times Keith, I'm sure you'll understand what I'm saying. What I have said is what I mean - no more no less.

thanks for chasing that up roger, all boils down to bad communication.

As I said above - you cannot possibly have EVERY decision to go EVERY councillor else the system will grind to a halt, the money being talked is probably well below what needs to go to committee ?
Been nice knowing you :)

hardly the point paul, how long would it have taken for someone to type out an e mail, copy it to all coucillors then shout across the office to the communications bod?

Bad communications (I am sure I heard about it going to happen quite a while ago) but the consensus seems to be that it isn't a bad decision

I don't think its a bad idea to charge and £3.50 for a whole year is great value, it was just the publicity that was poor (or non-existant).
It should help keep it open and vibrant too.

I agree £3.50 is not a lot to pay for viewing some of Dovers greatest treasures however children whose parent(s) are struggling on benefits should be given free entry and not deprived of a vital educational learning and enjoyable experience.

Ah. That'll depend on whether the EU says it's O.K. or not Marek. We can't make these decisions on our own now can we ??
Roger
Don't forget we are part of The Commonwealth.....
We can make decisions under that umbrella too
There should be concessions......and the councillors should bat for this....
What is the EU going to do....line us up and shoot us

there are a few points here
whilst i appreciate the decision by an officer(which i can only presume to be the case) this moves towards an officer led council, and does call into question the need for cllrs.
paul scotchie;'
you are correct not every decision comes before cllrs but this was a major change from the last election and this present administration did a publicity stunt prior to and after the election stating they would never charge and labour saying it will change were incorrect.
now whilst this may well have been forced upon them and we have a number of posters from the present administration that post on here
not one(if they were aware) made any posting on it until howard broke the news.

Full credit to the Town Council for funding the free entry to the museum from tomorrow but we were told that an EU ruling made this impossible. Wonder what has changed.

I recall when I was involved with the museum we had to find way to allow locals to get in free as we could not expect to charge people from the EU.

You're a dark horse/T.rex, Sue. You only wanted the entry to be free to up your fan club numbers!

Just read on the DTC website visits are up 176% on the same period last year, good to know so many people are enjoying the interesting artefacts.
