the master of cheap populism tries it on again conveniently forgetting two things.
a) this was announced by the last government.
b) he never said any such thing when he was grubbing away for votes at bradford city council.

waffled his way through his political life and riddled with hypocrisy.
the only thing i can say in his favour is his idea for the "big lunch" something he has every day by all accounts.

Multiculturalism was Labour's version of apartheid and just as disgusting.
A common culture is the glue that holds a society together. Eric is spot on in what he said and we need action to end this ill-begotten policy of 'separate development' and get integration into the British culture and way of life.

This is a difficult one, and an area into which Government should never have strayed in the first place.

the reds introduced it yes but they also dumped it later.

"The English language and Christian faith will be restored to the centre of public life, ministers pledged today."
Indeed, great news. This is how it should be.
Our Country is Christian by declared and expressed Faith. Our Union Flag is Christian, and the Faith must be restored to the centre of public life.
There can be no turning back, we can only continue along this path of national Salvation.
The road leads to Christ's Church!

Howard - no they didnt just 'dump it' - they responded verbally to the dreadful chain of events they sparked off purely for political reasons and didn't take any action. I look forward to Eric taking action. At least you agree that it was their fault.

Here we go again barryw and his IT'S ALL THE LABOUR PARTY'S FAULT'
Now if we are serious about integration we have a mountain to climb to get anywhere near achieving this aim.
not only any others needing to be integrated intr-to society but also the british public itself who don't agree with intergraton.
I have in other posts highlighted british also don't want integration, so it's a big mountain

No BarryW Multiculturalism wasnt a version of Apartheid which is a rather strong term, but it was a way of encouraging the various peoples that make up the UK nowadays to enjoy and revel in their heritage, as well as being part of the wider society. On paper it sounded good but in reality it left people in enclaves. I think it is recognised now by all parties and all sides that mingling in together in one great mix is the best way forward.
But...the original British tradition itself, even the tradition of religious service at solemn occasions, mustnt be lost. The various cultures should adhere to our traditional values...but do we adhere to them ourselves?
A good point well made, PaulB.

Keith - multiculturalism was a policy embraced and endorsed by the Labour Party - Howard agrees and it is historical fact so stop trying to put up your smokescreen.
PaulB - of course it is a version of apartheid and just as destabilising, unjust and dangerous. Even in South Africa apartheid was originally promoted as being good for the ethnic groups...we know where that led.

anything that causes splits among people must be harmful, multiculturalism was dreamed up by the chattering classes who would not be affected by it.

Aparthied was "separate development". South Africa used it to keep blacks and coloureds down.
Multiculturalism is also "separate development" but obviously not the brutal separation it was in SA.
People from overseas who come here should be proud of their culture and history, but as Ian has always said "When in Rome".
Sadly this as never been followed by any immigrant population, not even, in many instances (but not all), learning English.
