spent a few hours with Jamie today nice lad showed him around a bit.took him into the Town Council Office and he had luch with the Charlton Church Lunch club,he asked my opinions on Dover and although he has just bought a house in Folkestone because he didn't know he would be doing Dover news he said he wished he had bought a house here rather than Folkestone.

If you knew what I know,we would both be in trouble!

Sorry to bring this back up to the top again, but I see the Express is reporting today that the serious accident on Tuesday was on Jubilee Way (which, according to all the other reports, it wasn't) and that the A258 was closed in both directions (which it wasn't). They seem to think the A258 is the road from the Duke of York's roundabout to Whitfield, rather than the Dover to Deal road.

i was confused by the differing locations of the accident, haven't heard anything of the person with life threatening injuries.

http://www.thisiskent.co.uk/Ukip-urgent-investigation-Dover-Folkestone-snow/story-18424037-detail/story.html#axzz2NWZq1xSS
"The new Ukip candidate for Dover Paul McMullan - who was left stranded on Jubilee Way during the "shambolic" scenes - said it was a mircale no one died.
ThisisKent has requested a list of roads that were salted on Monday in the Dover and Folekstone districts but was refused. We have since subitted to get the details via a Freedom of Information request."
mircale? subitted ?

Gritters are useless in high winds. The salt and grit are just blown off the road. Even if they weren't the snow would drift on top. We came back from Warwick on Monday afternoon and saw umpteen gritters doing their stuff. What can a gritter do when the snow is piling up 6 feet deep as it was on the A2?
Bad road design is to blame, we need snow fences like they have in civilised countries.

We used to have snow fences put up by KCC in the 60s and 70s - they stopped putting them up when we stopped getting snow.

But Ray, now that Global Warming is here, we surely shall need them again.

What consenting adults get up to in the privacy of their own abode is hardly anybody else's business.
And with the fellow hardly cold...It must be difficult enough for family and friends to come to terms with this 'sudden' death, but to endure innuendo also?!
I'll say no more.

Agreed Tom, especially as it is just a form of salacious gossip rather than proven fact, that is unless it came from the police or coroners office in which case sensitive wording would have been more suitable.
