Or, as my boarding school housemaster once said to a blond new boy: Lewis, if you don't start making your bed properly, you and I are likely to fall out.

Too right Keith B, there are plenty that would do it for less.
Which would explain why there is a shortage of teachers.

Shortage of politically correct teachers to get over the selection procress
Get ex-servicemen in there with the stick
Typical Tommy on 20000, gives him £25000 and 6 weeks holiday and no one shooting at him.
He would bite your leg of.

No Howard, I'm not the aggressive type, all too stressful.
Yes, why not let ex-servicemen take the job, providing they have suitable qualifications to do so. I'm sure there are many that would be able to do the job very well. Why aren't they applying? Perhaps they need encouraging with a stick perhaps?
As for writing a selection prose, I think that is a great idea.
I enjoyed Peters comment..............

Cheep digs out of the way DT1
Teachers are over priced for the consistent proven failure of a supposed professional occupation;
I wouldn't give them a pension they are just not deserving of it

Bit of a sweeping statement there Keith, as with any profession there are the excellent and the awful but the awful always gets the media attention.
