Word is that Milibore Minor wafted into Dover and Deal yesterday avec entourage (and concerned looks, no doubt).
My local press sources tell me Mr Ed apparently swooped into the Deal Citizens Advice Bureau (no doubt fuming, still with furrowed brow intact, about the perfidious Tories and their nasty, nasty 'cuts'), having earlier inadvertently bollocksed up a dental appointment for one of Dover's finest, Phil Eyden.
Should have gone private, Phil...
Damn those cuts!!!

Yes Andy I think there is something on this visit on another thread. Poor Phil isnt too pleased. But of course young Ed is in the process of taking the governmental reins back from the 'cut to the quick' Tories, and no doubt promised the people of Deal their rail link and the earth too. Labour likes to spend big and worry later. Everyone gets something that way.
Noted Tories who live in the vicinity, one shouldnt name names but ah go on..PauliWatkins and Charlie Elphicke, were seen rigidly chomping on their already blunted finger nails as Ed's red cavalcade rolled by....

Well PaulB - you have certainly told the truth about Labour now and told us exactly why they deserve never to get hold of the reigns of power again.
"Labour likes to spend big and worry later.""
That really is the definition of financial irresponsibility. They certainly spent big and now we have the headache they left behind.
As for 'cut to the quick Tories'... if only - these so called cuts are nowhere near deep enough. I have said it before but if we want a long term solution to the UK's stop-go economy and to start buying up overseas businesses instead of having them buy up British ones, we need to really chop back that burden of public spending. Public spending needs to be cut from 53% to under 30% of GDP.

Lord Glasman promised me he would bring Ed to meet us. I am disappointed.
Keith, you can have guns as big as you like, but with no ammo........

will be interesting to see who gloats on the 6th may.
will the blues send down a big gun to dover?
they will need to get their act together this time, at the general election they sent william hague down to market square on a wednesday afterrnoon.
all he met were blue activists, ironically the first member of the public to mention it was colin, who positively had no interest whatsoever in politics.

Howard, I don't see what you are getting at with that comment about getting their act together, makes it sound as though the blue campaign failed but have you forgotten who won?
At least William Hague was there on the street to meet the public and press, and what better setting (even with a boarded up fountain).
I'm sure Red Ed will have been skulking away indoors with only committed supporters allowed in - after ruining Phil's day he probably was told not to show his face in public anyway

And the LibDems candidate couldn't be bothered to travel from I think it was Sevenoaks to see Dover, and the admittedly charming people who manned the single table in the square had no excuses for him. A poor show indeed.

ray
if the blues won why did they need to hitch up with the most left wing party to form a government?
i remember that afternoon in market square, i came out of the library and saw a group of about 8 suits standing around looking lost.
i spotted roger, charlie and william hague amongst them.
the picture must cover most of the people who attended, when i got home i asked around about who had been notified of the visit.
none of the local media were aware, i seem to remember blue barry commenting on the public relations failure.

This how Eds visit was covered by the media ...Labour leader Ed Miliband has admitted his party has a mountain to climb to recover its position as a political force in Kent.
Speaking on a visit to Deal , where he spent time talking to staff at a local Citizens' Advice Bureau facing possible budget cuts, he said: "I think we have a long way to come back in this area and I'm conscious we have a mountain to climb."We are fighting incredibly hard across the south east because I think it is important there are no 'no go' zones.
He refused to be drawn into predicting whether Labour was poised to gain any councils in Kent on May 5 and also conceded that had Labour won the general election, its spending plans would have meant some cuts.
"I want to make gains but I am not into the business of forecasting. I'm in the business of going out and winning the argument and if people think the country is heading in the wrong direction and the scale of the cuts is a real problem in areas like this, then I hope they will turn out and vote Labour."
Asked what a Labour government would be doing differently to help salvage something from the closure of the Pfizer plant in Sandwich, he said: "You need a real focus on every area of manufacturing that matters to Britain. "The Pfizer decision is very disappointing. One of the lessons we have to learn is that from the financial crisis is the need to have a broad industrial basis."
But he said he had doubts about the prospect of an enterprise zone for east Kent: "I'm all in favour of anything that will help an area. I am personally a bit sceptical that the scale of intervention needed will be met by enterprise zones."

He should have spoken to the hard-working volunteer bureau people in the Deal CAB building too while he was there. Or is that a bit too 'Big Society' for Milibore Minor? A happy and successful story of long-standing selfless volunteerism, absolutely essential to the Deal community, and extremely well-used? Nah, can't have that, can we, Ed. It's all about 'the cuts', innit?
Politicians! A plague on all their houses.

Thanks Paul. But I wasn't solely referring to the CAB. The volunteers, drivers, helpers etc at Deal Volunteer Centre, in the same building as the CAB in Victoria Road, Deal, do an absolutely fantastic (in fact, invaluable) job, providing their services to thousands of local residents in need.
It's a long-established and vital service, tapping in to the fabulous spirit of volunteerism and community among Deal people. I'd go as far as to say that along with the CAB and Deal Centre For The Retired, Deal Volunteer Centre is Deal Town Centre's most important asset.
Hope all's well with you and that you're enjoying the sun. Will no doubt run into you for a chat soon some sunny day!
Regards,
Andy

Yes , Andy, many unsung locals providing a quiet service to their fellow residents.
Deal has that great community spirit.
My motto is "leave Deal alone, it works" its part of its charm.

i think the blues see kent as a done deal, they have sent down baroness warsi, so they must feel they can still lose some votes and win.
