I went and the team gave a great presentation of where they have got to so far, what things they think they can do in the short term, their new branding etc etc

I like the bluebird logo Ross , the team where out in town last Saturday canvassing signatures , The mayor was leading the group

Ross, did many attend or would a quiet pub have been big enough.
Brian, I think this cynic has an idea what happened.
Chat, dream, speculate, plan, tea, gossip, dream, speculate then every body left.

There was a very good turnout with the majority of seats taken

Could "die heile Welt" be a translation of the English word Prosperity?

It's easy to be cynical isn't it? Where's the harm in giving this support instead?
The presentation by the Dover Town Team co-ordinators (four local business owners) was very good and very positive - I'd say there were 40-50 people there, a good attendance given the short notice.
Don't get hung up on the figure of Mary Portas - quite frankly no-one is under the delusion that the potential money that is being bid for is even going to scratch the surface of the problems for Dover. But that's not the point, the Portas idea has worked as a catalyst to try and bring business and community groups together to try and push the positives of Dover. Even if Dover fails in the bid, it's beginning to bring together the non-political community to have a crack at their own way of promoting this town.
It's very early days and too early to go into specifics of what the group intend to achieve but the general aim is to create an internationally recognised Dover brand - under the Bluebird logo - that will be used by local businesses and community groups to pull together and promote this town. A new website will be in the offing to try to centralise and co-ordinate the current disparate online marketing of Dover. The planned 'Bluebird' trail of sites and shops has great potential.
The concept is about bringing the community, retail and others, together to deliver improvement. In my view it deserves support.

Sounds good thought I would question the use of Bluebirds as a logo as they aren't even native and would never have been seen in Dover !
Been nice knowing you :)

I suppose 'Bluebirds' are symbolic - bluebirds for happiness - could be a symbol for regenerating Dover !!

Maybe a write in campaign could be started to make Dame Vera Lynn a Freeman of the town, after all her song has made the bluebird synonymous with Dover.
Politics, it seems to me, for years, or all too long, has been concerned with right or left instead of right or wrong.
