Waiting with baited breath for the M&S announcement on 17 August of a major investment in a new store for Dover to celebrate their 100 years in the town ...........

The new M&S better be sited as the anchor store for the DTIZ and not - NOT! - at Whitfield; if it's the latter then Dover town centre is truly, totally f***ed.
And it would probably signal the death knell for Deal's M&S too (and ergo, Deal's buzzy town centre), if Planet Whitfield gets the nod.
Our 'authorities' seriously owe it to Dover town centre. Anything else, then, well, turn out the lights and let the sea swallow Dubris up once and for all.

andrew
the council have made it quite clear that permission will not be given for them to relocate to whitfield.
there has been a lot of talk of them being the anchor store at the dtiz, i think that it is a distinct possibility.

I doubt if that the DTIZ site will be central enough for M&S.

Is that definite about M&S not going to Whitfield, Roger? Can we have some confirmation/clarification of this from the council?

paul the fuhrer has said that at least twice on here to my knowledge, his word is good enough for me.

Paul W is a good bloke and I trust him to be a man of his word. But we would all like some good news and a clear, unequivocal statement of intent. Excuse the weary cynicism; it's been a long life!

the unequivocal statement of intent has been made here more than once.
it would take too long to trawl through the threads though.

Statement of intent is fine but what i think we all want is some action.

There is a nasty rumour circulating that the DDC are going to move the seafront to Whitfield in order to make the area more attractive.

B&Q have lost me as a customer since they moved up to Whitfield I have not been in the place, previously I would visit the town store at least once a week even if it was only to buy a pack of screws.
