#39, Christ would not have objected to us going racing after Mass on Easter Sunday. But I agree about Good Friday.

Horse-racing, motor-racing, any event like that, will always draw crowds at a Bank Holiday, it doesn't make people bad if it's on a religious holiday like Easter - does it ? I appreciate the slightly earlier start-time would disturb people's Sunday morning.

I really don't see why the practicing Christian minority should force its view on the majority, but neither should the majority fail to respect the rights of those who worship. There is a middle way with plenty of room for compromise. How about free entry to all meetings for local residents who live within earshot?

Christian are not in the minority what ever made you think that?
I am not a practicing Christian because I am not that good. But Four days a year is not asking to much is it? to put by for God.

Are you not a Christian Brian ? If you are, you'll know which God.
Peter was talking about practising Christians - ie, those who go to Church and the Archbishop of Canterbury was saying the other day, that if you base this question purely on church attendances, then we are no longer a Christian society, but it is far deeper than just church attendances that make Britain a Christian society.

Nice idea Peter - they already do it for residents of any neighbouring parish!

Since there seems to be a general consensus that Lydden Circuit is a good thing, I urge you to go to the Dover DC Planning website and make favourable comments regarding the most recent application. On the last occasion that I looked there were 10 for and 6 against. It would be far more useful to write something there than here!
Perhaps the application would be more acceptable if the litter was labelled 'Fortnum and Mason',

I did that a while ago and urge everyone to follow suit. Use words like regeneration and employment, and stress the historical importance of the circuit in motorsport.

Yes but the volume of support is very important Howard.

Just supported the application, I'm astounded our MP has opposed it on the grounds of litter.

can't see why Charlie has taken that attitude, not many votes out that way.

Suspect he was 'got at' by a prominent local supporter.

Just to clarify things. The circuit was rented out to an organisation called 'BHP' on Bank Holiday Monday. It was they who ran the event and they did not supply sufficient people on the gate even though a great many booths have been installed. I am sure that Lydden Circuit would have been as unhappy about this as anyone. This sort of thing does not happen routinely and I am confident that steps will be taken to ensure that it will not happen again.
Thanks for any supportive comments. I don't know if it will make any difference but I do feel that this refusal was morally wrong- not that morals count for much these days.
