Yes Howard it is the same collar. No more newes to report at the moment, I think he could be trying to make his way back to the lifeboat station, to find his dad, but getting confusing scent's as it's been nearly a week now since he went missing.

Yes you're right. Just spoke to him again, he was seen at Barrows Hill near Kingsdown (near a pig farm apparently). He has now lost his collar but owner says looks fit ad well ;-)

[I feel I would like to say something 'Churchillian', to get the town out and searching, but 'black dog' meant something entirely inappropriate to that man.]
I recommend that the owner and those few others regularly on the hunt carry with them a piece of the dogs bedding, something that smells strongly of home and security. As the mutt seems so unapproachable otherwise. Good luck all.

Latest sightings of Bertie are Hawkeshill Down and Walmer Castle Green area's, maybe doing the grand tour of lifeboat stations. Now on day fourteen so he is looking a lot leaner now, and also minus his collar.

He is certainly proving to be elusive, surely he must be caught soon.
Would it be possible to borrow a bitch on heat that could act as a lure or a baited cage he must be very hungry even if he is raiding bins.

Received an E-mail from John this morning to say that sadly Bertie was killed on the railway line near Deal earlier this morning, he has been recovered and is now back at home.R.I.P Bertie.

such a sad end, he seemd a very street wise dog after being loose for such a long time.

Such terrible news, I am so sorry, especially after hoping for so long. I lost a great dog and companion once in similar circumstances and I still miss him after 25-odd years - he was called Albert, so another Bertie. Please pass on my regards to the family, and I share their sadness.

What a terrible shame, the owners must be devastated.
