I tend to side with Reg on this one. A shining example being the lack of commemorating the start of WW1, if that gun carriage had not passed through Dover on its way to France there would have been nothing at all. DDC and DTC both seemed to have ignored such a significant date.

I fail to see how a minutes silence could ever devalue "things" namely the life of someone who has died, it should not matter if it happened years ago or yesterday.

The following is to get away from flags and two minute silences .Next year the Queen will be ninety and it would be lovely if DDC recognise this .I know Paul reads this so maybe my idea may be looked at .Ninety children selected from our schools within the district there are fifty one .I attended many of these over the past four years .Venue Connaught Park for a glorious picnic .If wet Town Hall.
For us oldies a church service.
I held a Community party for the Diamond Jubilee ,however there is always those who complain about the cost .Budgets are tight so DDC have to be mindful of this .During my four years I was not able to put on events I would liked to have covered and for those I did I dug into my own pocket to cover some of the costs.
