disagree peter, the big supermarkets will keep the same hours to ensure market share.
extra hours have to be paid to staff and costs like lighting and heating will rise too - most people have a fixed amount that they spend on essentials so prices will have to rise.

For me if there is more choice of opening hours, I am more likely to visit a shop than buy something online, and thus helping keep people in employment.
