You see, I believe that the alleged Chamber of Commerce should offer some help with this; no community group such as the LRCF is going to afford the brackets - which seem scandalously expensive to me - nor are the Town Team seemingly able to, either. Instead of pontificating and pretending to be this high-powered body with oodles of clout, the Chamber of Commerce should roll their sleeves up and negotiate [I]pro bono[I] use of these brackets in return for some free advertising on the big telly and/or Dover Life magazine.
If the Chamber of Commerce were to be seen to be actually doing something for the town, people might get on board with them more than is the case now. A couple of years back, I was seriously thinking of joining, but a friend of mine who was already a member said - and I quote - "What on earth do you want to join that lot for? They do **** all. For the membership fee you get a diary and nothing more until the reminder arrives."
We need a dynamic and pro-active Chamber of Commerce that actually supports the town; at the moment the town supports the Chamber of Commerce and gets bugger all in return.
True friends stab you in the front.
