Local Government Offers Nothing
- 4 July 2013 21:32236382It is fair to say that Local Government offers nothing to the people, at least that is the impression I have had.
People who like to live and wish to be happy and to participate in the Community are always sent back.
It's systematic. When they have tired people out and dried out the will, they will only have themselves to talk to.
I''m pretty sure people will just turn away.

Try reading about the Coalfields and Dover SRB schemes, hardly considered as a Local Authority hampering progress, None of these achievements would have been sustainable without community leaders.

And yet, the Kentish Government has said we have no chance because of the Central Government.
Localism was a hoax! A Coalition hoax.
Here is an example:

I've said before we were very close to the point of elasticity and eventually things will snap."

It doesn't really matter what one proposes, the answer will be no.
I have come to the conclusion that the Local Government has less Localism to talk of now, than it had before the Coalition got in.
They only talk of how London has sterilised our lives through no-money.
Going by the examples given in the two above articles, and so many other similar articles that have spelled out doom and gloom, I have come to the conclusion that I will be forced into humiliation all my life until the day I reach pension.
Local authorities can't even hold on to what they had in 2010, let alone speak of any "new chances" through "Localism".
My life has been denied me by the Central Government, which is run by a bunch of fools, that only gives premiums and bonuses to the elitists sitting in top positions who only ever get richer.
I will not give up, but this Government is incompetent, it has lied to us all, and never gave us anything they had promised, least of all Localism. They are promising us that THEIR Austerity and Sterilisation of our lives will go on into the decades.
Have these fools decided to take over then even beyond their 5 year mandate?
We haven't even got what we had, after a 50% cut in council budgets, let alone what they promised us.
And they just carry on promising us all doom and gloom for decades beyond their legislative mandate.
Only the wealthy elites continue getting richer!

4; You are correct the cobbled together Govt who had an agenda on localism, has gone back on his word, but did you

5;The country has a debt, and needs to sort it, and im still unsure as to what Alexander views to be a better way forward
than the present cuts?
6;the issue of the rich getting richer I share that view
7;i agree in the present climate, the richer should be in it together, but we still are hearing of organisations out of
control, such as the BBC who paid out large sums of monies to get of some senior staff, that you and I paid for.
8; Local govt has always had more and more powers taken away from it, and just like other govts, this govt has gone the
same route of screwing them.

I completely agree with Teresa Murray and would add that there is now a group of many thousands that have become un- represented by all political parties and I have no idea how that is all going to turn out.
It is also true that this Gov. is strangling our local councils and it won't be long before they say "enough is enough".

Brinley Hill and his whole community team have just been restructured and are working harder than ever before, even in these difficult times.
They are the most approachable and helpful team you could hope for and are dedicated to helping our communities.
They have made big improvements to many small projects over the past few years in our communities, this gets a little bit of publicity but then it is forgotten.
Our villages would be a lot worse of now, if it was not for them and there is more to come.
They need our support as much as we need theirs.
Yes it's sometimes frustrating, yes it's tiresome at times, when things don't go at the pace you want it to go.

People will probably be realising that Local Government is being systematically undermined by the Central authorities in London, that council funds are drying out while we pay taxes to the Treasury.
Meanwhile, Local Gov. has no say over the economy.
