these shots of the clarendon field car park and look out spot were taken at about 11 a.m.
about half hour before i had seen two veolia chaps do an excellent job of clearing litter from st martin's battery car park.
i wonder why they do one and not the other?

Its always a pity to see litter in a beauty area Howard. At least I can say something positive about the seafront area today. This morning from 7am, or thats when I noticed them anyway, the guys from Fountain were cleaning the seafront area, cleaning it up spic and span yet again. Its looking good. I wont put up the usual picture but you know the gist. This despite hordes on the beach yesterday. You could eat your dinner off any of it.

So good to be able to report positive action.

We sat on the promenade yesterday for 40 minutes or so. During that time the police would have raised £660 in spot fines for illegal cycling if a copper had been there.

i rather suspected that to be the case, so it would be down to volunteers to do the clearing up.

Whilst sitting up at St Martins Battery the other day a car with German plates pulled into the car park. Three men and a woman got out, all with cans in their hands. They stood looking out to sea then threw their cans down into the trees and went off! Had I been able to get to the cans I would have got them and stood them on their car - oh they make me so angry!!!

There's always a little truth behind every "Just kidding", a little emotion behind every "I don't care" and a little pain behind every "I'm ok".

I was driving along the A20 today and I kid you not, the car in front of me threw all their Mc Donald's wrappers and cartons right out of their window

Gawd that is the pits! The effort good people make to keep places clean... as we have seen and featured many times on this forum and then you get that kind of behaviour. It makes your heart sink so it does.

exactly keith, most of the stuff left is adult oriented.
changing the subject slightly i have seen many times cars drive up to kfc in market square, eat the food in the vehicle then lob the packaging out of the window.

At the Council we are pushing for Enforcement Officers (used to be know as Parking Wardens) to have increased powers to fine Dog Fouling and littering and hopefully cycling in non cycling area. From November this year I think it is PSCO's power will also increase. I watch Parking Wardens walk dow the Barton Path and Dog's foul and in there is nothing they can do except the same powers as us.
This will be fought against by the EO's and will need a lot of pushing,we also want people named and shamed in the local newspapers, fine them for Dog Fouling and Littering and put the story with photo's in the paper, people would be more wary then. But they need to be out at night and in the morning as at least I guess 70% of Dog fouling is done under cover of darkness.
If you knew what I know,we would both be in trouble!

Howard, how diligent you are to photograph litter and manage to keep the empty/overflowing litter-bins out of shot.
Education and, dare I say it, a little of, "we, each and all are in this together"ness would also help.
On the one side, as things stand, we have a push for increased powers and responsibilities for public employees and on the other we have a general attitude that throwing litter about the place is providing employment...for these same public-employees.
It strikes me that the first thing that needs to be done is either;signage "Take your litter home" OR litter bins (emptied regularly).
Ignorance is bliss, bliss is happiness, I am happy...to draw your attention to the possible connectivity in the foregoing.

some thoughtful litterers arranged these bottles nicely on this seafront seat for people to admire as they passed.

re; post 13
keep pushing for it, surely the enforcement officers would recieve extra remuneration alternatively a pay rise for the extra duties?
#15. In some places this might count as street art........
I share the disgust at litterers. I genuinely cannot imagine how anyone could think it was ok.
