Nye Bevan outshines all of them, whoever they are.
Heike, you may well be thinking of mandela, but he was more of a freedom fighter/terrorist (depends on your point of view) than a politician, more like our own cuddly IRA freedom fighter/terrorists who were allowed to become politicians just a short while after committing atrocities.

i have never considered the likes of gerry adams, martin mcguiness and their equivalents on the "loyalist" side as freedom fighters just thugs and murderers.
makes my skin crawl to see them posing as respectable politicians.

It is a world wide problem when the "baddies" win the battle you have to learn to work with them, unfortunately there is no other choice, the earliest example I can remember from my younger days being Jomo Kenyatta.

'Send the lot back': UKIP councillor defends anti-immigration video comments
Further embarrassment for the party after Victoria Ayling says the UK should "send the lot back"
A video in which senior UKIP politician Victoria Ayling calls for immigrants to the UK to be sent home has been made public.
The former Conservative Party member made the comments in a video shot by her ex-husband that was intended to boost her political career.
Currently a Lincolnshire County Councillor and deputy leader of the local UKIP branch, the 54-year-old she jokes in the video that her offensive comments could be used to blackmail her.
She told the Mail on Sunday that she stands by her comments, but that they were "taken out of context" and she was only referring to illegal immigrants.
In the clip, Ayling says: "'multiculturalism doesn't work, Britishnes does," and adds in between takes: "multiculturalism is dead, I'm allowed to say that, but maybe Britishness is waving the National Front flag a bit".
She continues: "We must control immigration. We cannot sustain the numbers coming in; the strains on our infrastructure are enormous. Control should be done fairly and the points system like they have in Australia and all those coming here should be encouraged to speak English so they can integrate," adding: "I just want to send the lot back but I can't say that."
In between takes she is asked: "Do we want the French to order our troops?"
She replies: "Sod that. Just think of Waterloo, bastards."
Seen by the Sunday newspaper, the 20-minute video adds to an embarrassing year for the right wing party which saw MEP Godfrey Bloom refer to female audience members during a party conference speech as "sluts" and call developing countries "Bongo Bongo Land".
The leader of UKIP Nigel Farage last night said that Ayling's comments were "slightly odd" and admitted he did "recruit" her but was not involved in her selection as a local candidate.
"I have met her two or three times and I have discussed policy at length before accepting her into the party," he said.
"I had no reason to believe she held views that were extreme or inconsistent with ours. While this comment looks odd and unpleasant there may be a context here that is slightly different to the way it appears."

Stop complaining about immigrants and find a job of your own, former M&S boss says
High street veteran Sir Stuart Rose claims it's not the fault of Bulgarians and Romanians if they are prepared to come to the UK and work longer hours, and for less money, than Britons are prepared to
High street veteran Sir Stuart Rose has told people complaining about immigrants coming to work in Britain to go out and find a job of their own.
The former Marks & Spencer chief executive said it was not the fault of Bulgarians or Romanians or any other nationality if they were prepared to work hard for less money than Britons would like.
He told Sky News: "I'm a free market economist, we operate in a free market. If these people want to come here, and work the hours they are prepared to work for the wages they are prepared to work for, then so be it.
"It's up to people to decide what they want to do. I think there are a lot of people who complain about their lot. Life is tough for everybody at times.
"I know people will look at me and 'It's alright for you' but I started off with pretty well nothing, I did a lot of menial jobs when I was young.

"I didn't worry about the status of the job I was more worried about my self esteem and the fact I had a job. In fact I would look myself in the mirror and say 'I've earned a few bob'."

So Reg is praising a free market capitalist who can't wait to drive down wages by employing migrants...The Labour Party is indeed a Broad Church with people like Reg who support cheap labour, Kier Hardie must be spinning in his grave...Reg, the Victoria Ayling story is old news, the tape was made in 2008 and sold to Regs'favourite paper,Mail on Sunday,5 years later by Ms Aylings' ex husband, I believe there was a Thread on the forum over the weekend on this..Reg, do keep up!

Roger, I did not state in my post Mr Farage is lying, I just dont believe in the statement he d given. I am missing something from that statement.
But many Politicians these days dont have the so visible passion to people. They dont even reach People, as they are so out of touch.
Simply not reaching the people in the real world :(
Ahh and no one so far have managed to come up with the name. The Person is not english nor german and I think he is one of the Politicians you least expected. I wait another day
