rather a normal day at the junction of belgrave road and folkestone road.
avery thin person could just get through sideways on anybody else or those with baby buggies takes a chance that one of the usual speedsters sees them in time.

Catch twenty two for the area, pavement for pedestrians or road access.

a bit different here jan this is at a dangerous junction, on a long stretch of road people can see a car coming and dive for cover.
the photograph only shows the furthest vehicle from the junction, there were 2 others out of shot.

I think you have missed my point Howard.
Which is worse the road blocked, as you have rightly pointed out so often on other threads, or the pavement having clear right of way. As a pedestrian I side with the latter but if I was stuck in a vehicle I would want the road clear, hence catch 22 even if it is a dangerous junction.
There are far too many roads in Dover that are not wide enough for parked cars on both sides but where else can the cars go.

like you say jan
if the cars parked in the road the bus service would stop

If they parked a little further away in an appropriate space and walked the few minutes it might take them the roads would be clearer. A lot of the poor parking is people being too idle to walk a few feet and choosing instead their own convenience over others.

Bern: you are so right. We have similar problems outside our village shop. The bone idle park on corners and sometimes in the middle of the road making it virtually impossible to exit onto the main road without risking life and limb. They have forgotten what their legs are for. Some would park inside the shop if they could.

I think the PSCO is holding a "surgery" in Belgrave Road today from 2 to 3pm - why not go and ask about it?

No excuses for the bone idle, I agree but if a vehicle is loading or off-loading it could be a different matter.
Absolutely - but that is a less usual scenario!

Drivers' attitude to parking seems to be getting more irresponsible, and less and less consideration for others or the law is shown;
at one time the police would have taken a strong stance, and moved the offender on quickly but now the driver seems to have the upper hand and be a law unto himself/herself.

In my old fashioned way I think it is around that drop in courtesy we have seen across the board. Good Manners seem less and less important to people, but as we know, good manners oil the wheels and uphold standards.

there are loads of empty garages around plus some that are used as storage facilities.
problem is that they are at the backs of houses and people want to park in front.
thanks for info jim, will pop along.

Should they not be ticketed?

Yes they should but owing to a quirk in the law

only a police officer can issue a ticket for parking on the pavement unless there are other parking restrictions in force which are also being violated.

and if you ticket every one and get them parking in the road
the road is then to narrow so we lose the bus service
and round and round this discussion goes,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,
