Before Labour the UK had a veto over tax issues and the EU were not allowed to raise their own taxes. I am not quite certain of the present situation as I have not had time to research it, but if the EU now has the power to do this then it is Labour who failed to stop them getting this extra power.

i find many of the rules emanating from there so confusing, i may be wrong on this.
