Thanks Sue - if there are any details of funeral/collection then I am sure lots of us here, photographer friends and work colleagues would like to contribute/pay their respect to a very kind man.
My thoughts are with Ken's mother at this hard time
Been nice knowing you :)
As one of Ken's colleagues during my time at DDC I am very saddened to hear of this news. We had many chats when I worked there and that was the first time I met him after talking on these forums. Since then we have always had a chat and talk about everything from classic cars to the radio and history, however brief they are it is always lovely to see him and catch up.
He also took two of my favourite pictures of the DCR team both at the film festival this year and the Western Heights last year and was a very expert photographer.
Please do pass my condolences to his family and let them know I am thinking of them, Ken was such a lovely man and will be much missed. I really cannot believe this thread and it is such a shock, he looked very well in February and I will miss our chats when out and about. RIP Ken.

Oh dear, we are so very sorry to hear this. We pass on every sympathy to his family; it is so hard and hurts so much when a loved one leaves us.

Hi Paul
I'm Sandra, Kens sister, and I have just been looking at all the lovely comments people have been posting on the forum. We are all in shock, but it is nice to know other people are thinking of us.
I'm not sure if you are fully aware of what happened on Sunday? He was out on a trip with other camera club members at a nature reserve near Detling Hill, when he suddenly collapsed, and as far as we understand, it was instant and he would not have known anything about it. It is of some comfort to us to know that it happened whilst he was with friends and doing something that he really enjoyed.
You all knew, or knew of him, as a photographer and someone with a keen interest in local history, but to us he was also a wonderful son, brother, cousin, uncle and godfather. He has been a major part of family life through the good times and bad, he held us all together when our Dad (mine and Kens) died just a few weeks ago. Although he did not have any children of his own, he really loved spending time with my two, James and Alice (he was also James's godfather), and they enjoyed many interesting days out with him.
Can you pass this on to the forum, with our thanks for all their kind words.

What a lovely email from Sandra and thank you for letting us know what happened. A sudden death like that is such a shock for the family but I know I would wish to go suddenly like that doing something I loved doing.

I try to be neutral and polite but it is hard and getting even more difficult at times.

That was a beautiful e mail from Sandra and can't have been easy to write. I think all of us can only hope we go quickly, surrounded by those that care about us and doing something we love. Sadly it is those who are left behind that endure the hard part. I never met Ken but like all of you I enjoyed his photos and posts. My thoughts and prayers are with his family.

Thank you Sandra for letting us know the circumstances of Ken's death, it is indeed a comfort to know that he was on a photography trip with friends and doing what he enjoyed doing so much. For the Family the suddenness of Ken's passing must be extremely painful, I'm sure you will all find comfort with one and other remembering him as a wonderful member of your Family.

Just want to add that Ken was due to spend some time photographing with Scotchie and the guys on Western Heights on Sunday and in his sad absence they had a collection and raised £35 for a cause yet to be confirmed. Well done to them and especially our top man Paul Scotchie Wells who broke the news to the guys and organised the collection as well. All were shocked and saddened.
What another loss we have suffered another very talented man, rip xx
