A2 Jubilee Way Resurfacing and Gantry Replacement Work
We are writing on behalf of the Highways Agency to inform you of resurfacing work which will be taking place on the A2 Jubilee Way between the Eastern Docks Roundabout and the Guston Roundabout in Dover. We will also be replacing a defective gantry on Jubilee Way.
We are planning to start the works on 21 January 2012 for four weeks. Work is weather dependent and therefore subject to change, however we will complete the works as close to the programmed dates as possible.
The gantry work will start from Saturday 21 January to Monday 30 January and various overnight (8pm to 6am) carriageway closures will be required. Please accept our sincere apologies for the short notice given for these works.
Our current programme for the closures is as follows:
Saturday 21 January
Full carriageway closure for the removal of the existing gantry.
Sunday 22 January to Thursday 26 January
Coastbound carriageway closure only
Saturday 28 January
Full Carriageway closure for the installation of the new gantry
Monday 30 January
Coastbound carriageway closure only
Please note this programme may be subject to change if bad weather or a delay is experienced.
When the overnight road closures are required, suitable diversion routes will be put in place. Access to properties will be maintained and we will contact affected parties relating to any specific arrangements.
The diversion routes are as follows:
Road users wishing to continue along the A2 Jubilee Way coast bound carriageway will be diverted at the Whitfield Roundabout to join the A256 towards Dover. They will then continue along the A256 to the A20 junction where they will turn left to continue with their journeys.
Road users wishing to access the A2 Jubilee Way London bound carriageway will follow the above diversion route in the opposite direction.
There will then be no work on the A2 until resurfacing of substantial sections of the A2 Jubilee Way begins on Monday 6 February.
There will then be daytime off peak individual lane closures to resurface the carriageway. This will maintain sufficient space for one lane of traffic in either direction and allow the continued full use of the carriageway.
There is also a requirement to resurface the Guston Roundabout and this will necessitate closure of the A2 Jubilee Way and the A258 Upper Road to all traffic over a number of nights. We will be writing to you shortly to confirm the traffic management for the work at Guston roundabout.
During the period of the works the speed limit in this area will be reduced to 30mph.
If you have any queries about the works or want to discuss them further, please do not hesitate to contact our Customer Care Line on 0845 6000414,
Roger

The A2 from the Duke of Yorks to Whitfield seems to have been closed overnight recently but not much mention of that anywhere ?
Been nice knowing you :)

There have been a few diversion signs dotted around town - I wondered what they were for. Thanks for the information Roger.

Hope the info helps people get home easier. The slip road from the new entry near
B & Q was closed last night so I had to go back and drive down Whitfield Hill.

I had that one through too, but as it wasn't received until sometime earlier today, it seemed too late to post/
I believe Connaught is just for one day Terry.
