plenty of urban foxes when i lived in london, if you came home late at night when the dustbin bags had been put out there would be rival gangs squaring up to each other to gain the ascendancy.
quite an amusing sight, they would wait for you to go past then have a barking/howling match with each other.
the problem would be if they took up residence in your garden, they are basically a dog that nobody cleans up after so the smell would be repulsive.

There used to be one in the St James area before they pulled down the bus garage. I often saw it trotting along Dolphin Lane and into the garage for its breakfast!

There are still lots of households have free range chickens, I used to (over 9 years fox took two in daytime in garden, but never got into the very strong chicken house).
There are several in our village, including neighbours, who have a few free range in their garden and chickens are very friendly creatures - they like to visit your kitchen if they can.
Our old cockerel Henry waiting for us to get home, on the gate... Henry spent his last days in the Alkham Valley keeping 40 hens in order!

but cats do it without providing entertainment for humans, they are more than happy to express their sadistic side for their own pleasure.

Have you never been entertained by watching a cat with it's trophy, I know I have if the unlucky creature is already dead.
I have a feeling this subject is never ending.

I usually stay out of these debates because they always boil down to all sides pointing out the inconsistencies of the other sides' arguments while refusing to acknowledge the inconsistencies of their own. Such is often the case when the issue is an emotionally charged one.
Consider on the one hand the large number of hunt members who just go for the ride but cannot bear to be in at the kill; and on the other hand the abattoir workers who really enjoy their job of killing domesticated animals.
For the record, I think it should be put to a free vote in Parliament.
