Interesting response from an ICM poll to this question.
Says it all really.

 Your meaning?
My meaning is simple, it shows the esteem that Mrs T is held in compared to current leaders. Not far short of her percentage vote in the 1987 election and given the demographic changes since that is very remarkable.

Has anybody ever remarked to you Barry that, given the proper attire, you would be a dead ringer for Napoleon?

the timing of the poll is not a good guide to people's true feelings, the result could be very different in 6 months time.

 That's right Barry. There, there.
Grant Schaps is on the channel4 news +1 just now, he keeps on saying that you can make statistics tell any tale you wish to tell. He was not talking about you and your 'pretty pictures' of course. Now put you crayons to one side and eat your din-dins.

Clinging to the skirt of a deceased woman, says a lot about the current leadership!

Nine times out of ten with clever wording statistics will give what ever result you want certainly never the whole truth.

 Barry, let's keep to reality:
It's not Mrs. Thatcher who decides now whether there will be a Conservative victory at the elections.
PM Dave has gone to Berlin.
It's Angela now!

Yes Jan, these things should always be taken with a pinch of salt.
This one made me laugh as the poll suggests that the Tories are more popular with a dead person leading them.
Says a lot for Mr Cameron's personality.

I would not disagree with what anyone says about polls but I think most people are missing the point here.
It is the juxtaposition of the basic support for the Parties compared to what it would be if Mrs T (with people remembering her in her prime of course) were to be Conservative Leader.
People have been bombarded with tv coverage of her over the last week and have been reminded of what she achieved for this country. They see a woman of strength and conviction who rescued the economy and compare that with the rather weak leaders the Parties have today struggling with another financial crisis. It shows that the torrent of abuse, hatred and misrepresentation of her have fallen on deaf ears.
It also shows Cameron that weak consensus politics driven by focus groups does not get the best electoral results in times of crisis.
By the way - did anyone else see the brilliant documentary, Thatcher the Revolutionary? It really demonstrated just what Mrs T was up against from a cosy alliance between the 'Tory old guard' and the left who were happy for the old status quo of managed decline to carry on. It demonstrated conclusively that it was she who was on the side of ordinary people and the vast improvements made to all our lives.

I understand your message Barry; the left-leaning views posted above show why Labour should never take office again.
Reg's post above typifies the narrow view they have.
