Still to dark to see if there has been any damage, we had a power cut during the night not sure how long for as I went back to sleep even though there was a lot of crashing and bangs from a neighbour's bin.

Just an advisory - if you are heading out through the villages this morning there are a couple of blocked roads - Easole Street at the mini roundabout in Nonington and at the bend after the Barfrestone Court Farm turning by the parish church in Barfrestone. Lots of debris on all the back roads from trees and, in the villages, people's bins.

Had a very very near miss with a 6ft fence panel last night as i was returning from the Marlowe theatre. It flew straight across the new Dover rd in front of me.Missed the roof of the car by just a few feet. There was bits n pieces flying around most of the way back.I was very glad to get home.

Looked like a power cut in Whitfield at 8.15, shop was shut and no traffic lights.

Well I have three fence panels and posts down but they will have to stay that way now until after Christmas.

reports of trees down blocking roads and lanes in the rural parts of the district, noticed yesterday that the wall leading to the car park at the magistrates court had partially collapsed.

Cooting road in Aylesham is flooded in the usual place but deeper than normal and the fence and wall for the industrial unit on the left at the junction with the A260 is down with scattered rubble to avoid.

Ian, that must have been a localised problem as my Virgin has been fine.

Sadly last night's weather has destroyed the Market Square lights and damaged the tree to the extent that 'elf and safety' had to chop it up the rest of the way and remove it.

Lots of bushes hanging down in the road and branches through the lanes to Hougham so be careful if going that way or any of the country lanes.

That's a big, big shame Neil.
They must have been strong outside of Dover too, as my brother advised me that his son, who works in Luxemburg, had his flight cancelled due to the high winds; needless to say, they are very upset and disappointed (their son isn't too pleased either).

Some friends of ours in Sturry lost their greenhouse and a few Kent pegs. Watching the news channel this morning it seems that we were quite lucky.
Speaking of the news channel, at least were spared the sight of Jimmy and Rolf on the children's wards!

We wouldn't get half the road closures if land owners where required to cut back to there boundary fence, instead of letting the trees get top heavy hanging over the roads.
Kent highways enforcement is a joke.
