Thanks for the tip Peter..just caught a brief glimpse of him. He's on a good earner nowadays as many programmes have been delighted to have him as the hissed at pantomime villain. I assume they pay an appearance fee. Although I suspect the main thrust of the story is now over. The Murdochs have left the building, the politicians are off on exotic hols in the Med and the Caribbean...some of which they are actually paying for ! ...so a quietening down approaches I suspect. But its been a 'good story'.

The Information Commissioner raised concerns 5 years ago about inappropriate behaviour by newspapers, particularly regarding the use of private investigators to obtain private information etc on individuals.
The worst offenders then were the Mail & Express - no reason to believe anything has changed since.
The big concern is why did MPs ignore the warnings back then? and why did the decline to give the Information Commissioner the powers requested to fine etc

Then we need to have a Limerick competition in celebration of the event. Prize of a pint at Blakes for the best entry as judged by me of course. It was our 36th last week so I look forward to receiving some bone china.
Before you start, there's very little that rhymes with curmudgeon.

There once was fellow named Hansell
A giant of old Shepherdswell
He was never known to stand still
And took on all foes with a will
As all the townsfolk will tell.
When all was done and was said
Down the aisle Wendy was led
Twas then she did pledge
her life to young Reg
It's 46 years since they wed

Tom,For the tradition..
A GIFT IN TIME.
Change is in the wind and sea
It is in every breath we take
Which carries us from one moment to the
Next
It is from birth to death
We are born to live in change
We are born to grow,adapt
And be born again in others
The clicking of the clock tells us that life is moving on
We may stop the clock but not the sun
Time will heal all our worries and our wounds
Memories live on
How do we cope with the moment the impact
The ceaseless wind and tide?
We know there will be lulls
We can hear the clock saying
there will be an end
but what now?
Find inside the spark of life
the endless drive to live and create
Find your purpose
and give it to the world as a gift
Give life,share energy,share hope
Live your life and give to others your gift
From this moment nothing will be the same again

Cabinet releasing details of meetings with Murdoch team will reveal meetings between Jeremy Hunt Culture Secretary and News International `before`he was given responibility for the BSkyB deal.
At the same time Osbourne was having dinner in New York with Murdoch.
Two weeks later Vince Cable was removed from BSkyB negotiations.

I'm no cable fan, but he started to warn about murdoch and was removed from the position because of doing so.
Simon hughes who i have more time for, also gave out the warning shots, all ignored by the tories and mr cameron.
This will of course come out in the open in time as reg keeps highlighting
