Most interesting pics there Scotchie. havent seen that level of scaffolding before...even when they painted it. A lot of people have tried to get something done with it over the years but it all fell on a stubborn business with very deaf ears.

why would the owners be bothered about a hole in the roof, nothing in there to damage?

I suppose if immediate repairs are not made now, the roof could be in danger of collapse?

That building needs renovating, and about time, too.
Castle Street should be looking close to perfect before long, though I think the Action Carpet shop looks rather flimsy, somewhat make-shift.

I do know that Dover AutoCars used to be where I am now.. someone very kind lent me a c opy of the lease!
Now.. I spoke to a very nice structural man.. and he was concerned the first bit of bad weather and the whole lot was going to come down The whole in the roof has caused damage inside and they cant be sure because they cant get above the first level.
and rix-y and his team have been awfully great putting up the scaffolding and not hollering at passer bys.. unlike some other scaffolding team not far away ..
