Shame people can't have the common courtesy to contact me personally rather than just delete my posts
Please delete all of my posting and photographs, I will go elsewhere.
This place has ceased to be any fun for a long time. Some knowledgeable and interesting posters have been pushed out or stopped posting. It's all about moaning about politics, and anything good and local just gets pushed down the pages without comment
Goodbye.....

Another goodbye paul????
Anyway can I make a few comments rather than just say goodbye.
At times I have agreed with you when one particular poster(Alexander) bleats along the same lines, often either without fully reading posts or choosing not to.
That appears to be your gripe, whilst I understand your frustration in that quarter and have at times expressed my own disbelief in some of his comments, never the less we are a wide ranging group and need to remain so.
The Idea that posters are unable to post(or get pushed down the page) as you know isn't correct and it's just as easy to keep posts(other than politics) at the top if lots of(or even 1) poster chose to do so.
We again reach this bridge where poliical posts are blamed when in fact it's individuals who may not agree with others views.
I'm sure barryw(or hope lol) that barryw agree';s by the way postings/threads happen the political ones are the ones people chose to post on, no pressure, anyone can post/start a thread on any subject they wish, its up to others whether or not they wish to post on it.
So for me, as i'v said many times before encouraging others to post is a better way forward than a few posters who try to undermine posters.
Of course as always paul its a choice thing
ALL POSTS ARE MY OWN PERSONAL VIEWS

If what Paul says is true I am not surprised he is leaving, courtesy costs nothing but sadly it is apparently missing on this site at times.
Paul, you will be missed by those of us who find your postings on our local history so interesting, so please just take a break rather than leave altogether.
Who is going to keep us reliably informed and up to date about Western Heights in the future.

I try to be neutral and polite but it is hard and getting even more difficult at times.

Sorry to hear Paul, but can understand why. Always enjoy reading what you've had to say.

Don't blame you Paul. Just about every thread on here is turned into political argy bargy and it is SOOOOOOOOOOOO boring. Think I'll join you.

Me too Carole. Paul is about the only one whose posts I still read because they are of interest, accurate and factual. Paul you and I joined the old forum many moons ago under Rick and PaulB. At that time we had some great members, a fun chat room and a lovely atmosphere. Now things have changed as you say. There are those few, and they know who they are, that ruin the whole experience for everyone. Since PaulB went it has got worse (in my opinion). I have a lot of time for Howard who tries so hard to keep the tone interesting but I fear he's fighting a losing battle against the likes of .... well I'm not allowed to name names but we all know who they are. Neil Wiggins, Peter Garstin, BarryW, Jan Higgins, John Mavin, Ed Connel and a few others are great but the self styled politicos spoil it. I'll probably still look in sometimes but not to read the drivel.
And Mr Sansum - before you say everyone is entitled to their view - I KNOW!!!
There's always a little truth behind every "Just kidding", a little emotion behind every "I don't care" and a little pain behind every "I'm ok".

All the best, Paul W,
I must say that as someone who abhors party politics in local government per se, I know where you're coming from. No offence to those who run DF and those passionate coves such as David Little, Neil Wiggins and Andrew Stucken who try to raise the debating bar whenever possible, only for it to be dragged down far too often into the Punch 'n Judy politicking that keeps Dover forever squelching forlornly in the brown stuff.
Love your Dover Kent History Pages on Facebook, by the way, Paul W: it's sprung out of nothing to become a lively and fascinating microsite in its own right; moving, compelling, thought-provoking and, I believe, providing a really strong social function for Dovorians of all ages.
I think DKHP is also making the Dover Express' Facebook page raise its game, which is a good thing. You only have to see the phenomenal response to the DE's thread about the Burlington Slum Tower last week to witness social media's galvanising viral power at its best, raising the voices (and hackles) of myriad miffed Dovorians who have simply had enough.
Anyway, best of luck again, and see you as ever in cyberspace (wherever that might be).
Cheers,
Andy

Can't imagine why anyone would want to remove/delete any of your photos or postings Paul. They are always positive, of interest and value and I cannot think that anything you have (ever) posted would be found to be worthy of deleting.
Is there an explanation Howard do you know ?
I've felt like leaving a few times, but have stuck with it - it can be informative and you can (and do) inform. I know we have people on here who talk drivel, but that happens in any walk of life. Stick with it (us) Paul - we'll be the better for it.

Hi Roger,
You're another person on here who refuses to succumb to mindless bickering! Hope all's well.

Paul.
I hope that you just take a breather for a short while and come back to share your points of view and very interesting community post's with us.
You are doing a great job and not coming back would mean you are not able to keep us informed and then everyone would miss out.
Hope you come back soon.

Not knowing what led to posts being removed makes this a hard one to judge, Paul's knowledge of the History of Dover is amazing and I have loved reading the stuff he has posted on here and he has been kind enough to respond several times to questions I have asked, The apparent on line feud with Alexander did at times become tiresome and very personal but I soon got to know which threads to ignore as to be quite honest most of it was over my head, so all in all Paul please do not just walk away, keep a watching brief and when a subject arises that you can educate the likes of me with your knowledge please continue to do so.

Keith, I'm fully innocent in relation to this matter and do not deserve you comment in post 2.
The facts would appear to relate to the Fracking thread.
Either it has something to do with a view of mine on the damages caused by fracking, or with my idea that Society needs to dedicate specific research to find the future energy solution.
I suggested that Dover could have such a research centre, and expressed some personal interest in future research.
There is nothing in this that merits your comment in post 2. What comment on the fracking thread was deleted is unknown to me, not having seen it, but I am thankful that it has gone, assuming it was another mocking post, as sometimes I feel persecuted no matter what I write and it gets me down.

Wish I was, European nights at the Lane are amazing, the ground rocks, not something those from Woolwich would understand
