Good news? The Chinese government have just launched a coved vaccine. Allegedly it is safe and effective ( we will see)
Bad News? They are immunising the army first.

Think you may have been misinformed, fairly sure the Chinese vaccine Is entering phase 3 clinical trials and that will be on military personnel.
We already (astra zenica) have one in phase 3 trials and the US are about to enter, I think 3 into phase 3 trials. There are few hundred more in early phases of trial or developement so fingers crossed something will work to end this pandemic

https://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2020/06/29/chinese-coronavirus-vaccine-approved-use-countrys-military-clinical/
The article does say it is being approved for the military following not for clinical trials but is not available commercially . It has been developed in partnership with the military so transparency is non existent. The original story came out this morning from Reuters. The wording of the article does seem to say approved for use rather than testing but I will happily stand corrected, thank you.

"There are few hundred more in early phases of trial or developement so fingers crossed something will work to end this pandemic"
That was the point of my reply Jan.
I had been reading about the various trials and vaccines just this morning and noticed how this chinese vaccine was being widely mis-reported as being approved for use not approved for next stage clinical trials.

My point was that
if this subject needs further discussion this thread is
not the place to do it.

For those who like to visit or support East Kent Railway at Shepherdswell I have just seen the following.........
"We are committed to ensuring the safety and security of the railway and it’s assets after the recent spate of vandalism we have endured.
We have today had fantastic meetings with Thelien Security Group and Kent Police who will be undertaking regular patrols of the grounds, track beds and stations.
We are very grateful to Christian at Thelien Security who will be providing fully trained dog handlers and their furry companions to the railway.
We are additionally grateful to Kent Police who have also agreed to step up patrols.
Remember, vandalism is a crime, trespassing is a crime, interfering with railway assets is a crime, don’t take the risk!
FWe are still fundraising to help get us through the COVID-19 Pandemic and to help us repair and replace vandalised signs and fences, if you can help us now is the time, we are looking to reopen our Café and Woodland Miniature Railway this weekend and our mainline services in the coming weeks, please, if you can, help us achieve this!
You can donate on our website at
www.eastkentrailway.co.uk or here on Facebook.".......

Brian, reading the article it looks to me as if they have received planning permission only, where the money is coming from is another matter. Magic Money Tree, anyone?

Lottery heritage fund for half of the cash, the other half supposedly from DDC, DTC and Dover Society coffers.
What they will do if lottery decision doesn't go to plan is another matter.

Been there. Seen the presentations by well funded 'consultants'.

This was really good news if only just for me.
Feeling brave I put on my imaginary hard hat and ventured out this morning to Morrisons for the first time since March, I use a mobility scooter and was feeling a little daunted about all the changes. Even so early in the morning everyone was smiling and so helpful especially the lady guiding people to the tills as I had no idea how to get to them, she even moved the barrier for me to make access easier.
