It made a sensation at the time nationwide, as an article I wrote the next day was being tweeted and face-booked and linked to by UKIP supporters all over Britain.
I can remember sitting there staring at my monitor as the page-views went up at an average of one every 2 seconds for two whole days.
But since then, UKIP has a habit of coming second, being effectively Britain's second party.
The success probably had to do with a door to door leaflet campaign in Dover.
A shame that Vic did not accept UKIP's offer to receive 5,000 more leaflets, these too free of charge, as I would have posted those too.
I did make a point before starting the distribution of asking for the money for a new pair of shoes , which I got!

4 May 2013 05:40227972no alex,they couldn't find any one to deliver the toilet paper this time. - 4 May 2013 07:03227977Not for the first time I got my sums very wrong,well done to UIKP and they done well around Dover town aswell my mate in Folkestone got in.And after this election the Dover, Deal, Sandwich, group is now set up and is srong in numbers and that will grow over the next two years,might even see a UKIP ,MP in Dover.As you know I came last in Dover West with only 114 votes,but that 114 votes was for me and not any party so that does make me feel better about it. I have been talking to the UKIP chairman in Dover,and there might be away for me to return to the party if that did happen I would only be helping out as a back room boy. Again I got it very wrong but still try to help on the four parish councils I sit on I will not be packing them in yet but even on them I do not do alot.But still a young man with yearsahead of me yet.
