Howard have you been drinking?
You are complaining that we pay a fortune to the EU but you don't want Farage going on tv and saying the same thing. His raison d'etre is to bang on about EU waste and bring it to our attention.

david
you bang on about politicians wasting our money then say it is ok for farage to do so, as it happens i agreed with his stance about a decade ago, everyone knows it - just an old record now.
people are either for or against the e.u full stop.

Howard, I haven't said that at all, are you sure you haven't been drinking.
I am vehemently anti EU and everything it stands for, I would leave it tomorrow. The point about expenses is irrelevant, he has to travel to Brussels the same Charlie has to travel to Westminster, I assume Farage lives in London. The way you and Paul are talking he was interviewed on the Moon.
For me Farage is the most entertaining politician around

And actually, people aren't for or against full stop, plenty want to be in but with less input from them. Thats why Farage, keeps, you put it, banging on.

David you and I are not far apart on Europe.
I would prefer Nigel Farage [who I also like & find entertaining] to do his job in Europe .
I would also like him to ensure the South East gets its share of the EU budget for growth & regeneration.
As we pay in I would expect he fights for our share & comes & represents the Maritime issues, the transport issues & how the EU bureaucracy thwarts grant aid for SME's, the sector you're in.
As Vic could not get him down to Dover as a former PPC [see previous postings] I wonder whether Mr Farage as our MEP for the South East is doing his job in the South East [his constituency] or in his attendances in EU Parliament or committees?
Is that a fair question to ask David?

Admittedly I'd never vote at the European elections, as to do so would mean recognising the EU and giving its parliament authority.
It's also true that Nigel Farage receives an EU salary, and this possibly puts him at a vantage point in UKIP, as he needn't worry about a salary and many of his expenses are covered by the European state.
PaulW, so what do you think about the point that the European Union has a law-making parliament whose laws are binding for all ex-sovereign-states that are members of it?
Is this not technically a state?
The British Parliament cannot make any laws that are not subordinate to EU laws.

Alex, I'm not getting into one of your circular debates.
Fact; the EU is not a country. No debate.
As for Nigel Farage, he is elected for the South East & draws a salary as such.
He has a responsibility to attend to make his arguements and try to amend legislation or vote against.
Not to do so is to disenfranchise those who elected him.

i doubt the fisherpersons along the south east coast would be impressed if they knew of the shenanigans, not a political game to them or their families.

Wasn't disputing the piece about Nigel Farage, Paul, just noting that as a member of an anti-EU party, he draws an EU salary.
Of-course the EU is not a country, Paul, it's a state that people give authority to when they vote at the European elections, thus detracting from British Sovereignty.

Right you are, Howard. It means detracting from the sovereignty of 27 countries.
Perhaps we should ask Nigel Farage why he dwells in the EU cave and draws a stipendium from there.
If he is a Trojan Horse, by now he should have accomplished the mission. It took the Greeks one night to conquer Troy.
Nigel's been at it for considerably longer.
His salary is assured, and he claims expenses too.
So if we left the EU today, would he be happy for this? Or would he suggest to wait a little longer?

I don't now why he would be in London on working days , maybe it wasn't ?
And I agree he should be getting as much of our money back as possible he probably doesn't get much cooperation at the EU parliament in any of his endeavours
Watty you can request this info from the press office for a full explanation
His wife is German so he probably spend a lot of time in Europe
I do now that when he is in the parliament he give it to them good and proper , we would all miss his rants

The European Parliament only sits in full session on 56 days each year.
