Here's hoping that quite well becomes rather well and then right well before too long, but yes, by all means play it up for all your worth Kath.

Thanks Vic, getting old does have its compensations, there were lots of knees in the ward as well as new hips, and they got people up very quickly and mobile. Wonderful nurses - two Irish ones, man and a woman (not related but they grew up together), and they were exceptional, in their care. There were a few entertaining moments with new patients coming in who gave instructions to the nurses, like army sergeants !! and told the nurses 'I told you so' !!
Best night's rest yet, so better each day ! our son was down for a week and very helpful to us, we are very lucky.

Thanks Roger and Paul for your good wishes - teenager? I wish !!
Maggie - I guess the woods are covered with snow after what we had this morning it came down really thickly.
The nurse came and took out the clips and dressing off completely this morning - I think it is amazing after only 12 days of having complete new hip installed ! Am trying to keep warm indoors, best place to be I think, physiotherapy check up at Deal Hosp on Friday, I can't do any bending yet, or ski-ing and have to take things slower than I normally do (not easy).

hadn't realised it was a total hip replacement kath..
did you have to wait long for it because i remember reading that east kent nhs had over spent and were putting knee and hip replacements behind other surgery.

Howard - I was surprised I did not have long to wait - have had bad hip getting increasingly worse for about 5 years, and finally in a lot of pain decided to ask to see consultant, and it was about 5 weeks after I had seen him I got my date -
I have no idea whether or not the fact that Bob's memory problems are increasing (he was diagnosed with Alzheimers in June), may have made a difference but obviously I needed it doing as soon as possible - he had to give up driving because of his confusion.

We have snow up here, which is quite a surprise, as normally we don't get it as much as anywhere else. Still, it was very pretty to see - but not enough to cause any real problems.
I remember when we went out with you and Bob, Kath, to look for the PoW camp in the woods, and that was a really super morning! Simon especially was in his element, doing his archaeology!
I am glad you are doing well, and am sorry to hear about Bob. Please give him our regards (and lots to you too!)
