Its time to back off from keeping on and moaning,I like most in the pass have had goes at the D,D,C, because nothing was happing, well at last slow but it is happing and now is the time to back the council on still keep on moaning, lets all give it a rest of a time and let them get on with it ,knowing they have some support from the public ,I think there have been some changes up at the district for the good of Dover the last thing we want to see is that to stop. So please like myself backoff.I am geting old now and would like to see some of the new Dover before I peg it. Thank you.

Well said Vic.
DDC are not causing any of the delays as regards DTIZ, but working as hard as they can to move it forward.
I can understand people's frustration, including that of all the DDC officers and indeed all the Councillors.
It doesn't help when there seems to be a variance with what we are told by DDC and by Cineworld, but am sure that there is a simple explanation (I don't know what that simple explanation is, but am sure there is one).
I can also understand the request for some answers, but like I have said before, I really don't think a public meeting at the Town Hall will be helpful to either party. Sitting round a table is much more civilised and more likely to get the answers requested.
DDC are not the enemy of Dover.

I hope the public meeting does not go ahead it will just get more backs up.And to what point nothing can come out of it,and to keep on about the pass is not helping it has come and gone no point in keeping on about it.We must hope now that the movment that has started does not come to a stop.So I hope the D.D.C. do not agree to the meeting at this time.I still think that the Gen/Election is still behind all this with partys hoping the meeting will bring their party more votes.

I can understand all the doubters and their comments because we have had so many false starts with the site but this time I am optimistic we will see building work start. The continued little drips of information in the past have not helped it is as if the people really have no right to know what is going on hence the rumours, speculation and frustration.
I am certainly keeping my fingers crossed building work will start in months rather than years ahead.

David Little has just posted this on DL so I am passing his comment on as requested..............
"OK, as the owner of a property that abuts the DTIZ I received a letter and info today.
It seems that the developer has signed "pre-let agreements" with M&S and Cine UK.
Those better informed than me will understand that I guess. As I mentioned the other day, the role played by Laker/Bond City/Stonebridge Developments is very interesting as they seem inextricably linked with each other. I'm very curious as to the length of their contract, the money involved and/or penalty clauses.
Cllr W is suggesting we should get round a table, if he thinks that is of benefit and is prepared to answer questions I'm available at his convenience."

We was tol;d at last night council meeting that over the few weeks all the new developments are going to kick off we will see alot of ground work going on etc,at last it does look like it is going to happen lets hope it does and the public meetingdoes not go ahead,as I said it is wrong to keep on at the D.D.C. at this very time,if anything going to happen it will be this year always a good time to get things done ayear before any election.

Not sure if you are implying the delay in DTIZ is because of an election next year Vic. ? It certainly isn't due to anything like that.

Just a personal view, but Burlington Tower has more of a chance being picked up and thrown into the sea than taken down the conventional way. Keep on dreaming...ha ha

There are demolition experts who know how to take it down Alexander, so you don't have to worry, it will be taken down professionally.

Indeed Roger, god forbid that politicians should only act on something when pursuing votes...

My brother was working on the top floor of Burlington House during the hurricane, he felt the building sway, heard a loud crash and looked out of the window to see a car buried beneath the a plate glass window that had fallen!
There's a thought! He comes home for a visit from Vancouver in July, maybe he could press the button to demolish the eyesore!

Maybe he could Lesley, or maybe there'll be raffle tickets to see who will press the button, but at the moment I don't know how it will be demolished.

Being where it is, and given its method of construction, it will have to be taken apart from the top down. If you put enough explosive to take it down in one go it would take half the Gateway with it.
Now there's a thought.
