Does that mean the Boy Scouts will sell cupcakes rather than the girl guides selling cookies?!

this is all rather worrying, on a lighter note the article states that ian duncan-smith is a member of a gentleman's club that goes under the name of "pratts".
the founder was clearly a visionary.

Members' clubs are private establishments, not businesses. Whom they admit should be entirely up to them.

2 points here peter.
a) private establishments still apply the smoking ban and all other laws.
b) muirfield together with other leading golf clubs is quite happy to take money off of women to let them in to major events.

A. They don't have to unless they admit guests.
B. Proves that those women are not concerned, otherwise they would not be handing over their hard earned to a bastion of male chauvinist piggery.
For the record, I disagree with men-only clubs and would never join one. But it's an area where Nanny State ought to butt out.

From another thread.................
Women-free golf clubs? Some of us rather like them, says boss of the Royal and Ancient
R&A chief executive Peter Dawson defended Muirfield's men-only policy ahead of British Open
The head of golf's governing body has said that excluding women from clubs is not sexist,
but part of "a way of life that [some people] rather like".......Don`t tell the Labour party..................... -

Coming from a woman it really does not bother me. Boys need to be boys sometimes just as much as gals need each other. Lets not forget about all the good charity work the Free Masons do.
Ps. Brian, as I always tell me other half. If he did what I asked in the first place I would not need to nag

Helen, not just the boys
http://www.owf.org.uk/
I have no problem with social clubs or groups that want to remain only male or female. I am not so happy when a sport that is played by so many from both sexes (like golf) is involved. Can you imagine the shouts of horror if men were banned from playing at an all female club.

I try to be neutral and polite but it is hard and getting even more difficult at times.

Jan, why would anybody want to go somewhere they're not welcome?
