cannot remember seeing so many forum members in one place outside of a forum do.
neil wiggins of peoples port fame, jenni of wedding shop fame, ross of lrcf, pat sherratt from the town council, charlie elphicke of house of commons fame.
then there was current mayor ronny philpott and previous mayor sue jones.
hopefully ross will fill in the details of anyone i have missed.
What's occuring??

It was a Town Team meeting. Sadly I had another meeting and could not attend.

Thanks Howard....me...neither great or particularly good

Was there to show support for the Town Team and what they have achieved to date, also because action by local business people to improve the offering in the Town centre deserves the fulsome support of the Port (should be both the current AND any prospective future owner/operator) and there is a synergy between what we hope to achieve with the purchase of the port by our community and what the Town Team have come together to achieve now.

Last week's Dover Express reported that only hundreds of people from the whole of Dover District responded to the DPPT request for cash.

i think you are being mischievous alex, the peoples port is not the subject of this thread.

Ah, Alex, suggest you read the article again......I was interviewed by the Express after just a few days worth of return post and at that time there were up to a hundred being applications being received daily. Applications are still being received today and will continue to be received in the future. DPPT share issue is not a 'limited time' share offer, so the membership is growing daily. Nice piece of attempted mischief though

Neil, have we received the Queen's application yet?

I was just following up on post 5, Howard, in all innocence. There the word port comes up twice, with a direct reference to "the purchase of the port by our community".
So I was asking myself which community. Surely, my comment is not out of place nor unfair.

Neil, no mischief meant. The Dover Express article was published 3 weeks after the arrival in the post of the 55,000 requests. Surely, we are allowed to comment on all this since you brought the subject up in post 5

well not to take to much away from the dover team, there has to be concerns it has joned one of the bodies wishing to take on the port

Unlike DHB the DPPT takes an interest in the Town and that is the whole point of the DPPT bid. Utterly absurd to suggest there 'has to be concerns'.

it is of course up to the new campaign as to which direction it wishes to take
but some will view its support for one particular body in the port saga as a reason to give it less support which would be sad

DPPT is giving its support to the Town Team, Keith, not the other way around.

There is an important distinction there Keith, any red herrings are from your direction.
