who would be responsible for rubbish collection though, the town council haven't the facility to do it.
incidentally the bin provided was full up with what seemed to be mostly bottles and cans so some have behaved responsibly.

I think its the prohibitive fence that kills this garden. People just see it as a kind of inaccessible no-go area and not belonging to them, so as a consequence just chuck bottles and so on over said fence. I was there at the relaunch/revamp in 2010 and all were full of optimism of having a nice garden by the river... but for me the fence kills it. The gate stopped working after a while so don't know what became of that..it was a heavy spring loaded thing if I remember correctly. who could open it!? Take the fence away and let people amble along the river, it brings life and responsibility. People feel its theirs then..

i think that paul may have a good point about it being fenced off and the spring loaded gate being a turn off.
nobody seems to care about it, trees were vandalised a while back and the litter is a long term problem - some dog owners treat it as a public toilet for their charges.
the town council own the land, sue has now reported it to ddc waste - hopefully we might see the rubbish cleared this time but a long term solution has to be found.

The fence by the path was a complete waste of money as many thought they were not allowed in there myself included when it first opened, the only fence needed is the one beside the river.
I seldom walk that way as the path is so narrow in places but when I do those bins seem to be full.

We do Mr Dixon, but must think of the rest and geting out again the park does need more parking room so why not use that part no more rubbish and looking after it,just get rid of it.

Vic, you obviously do not know the area that you would like to use for parking, the only access would be off Bridge Street which would be very dangerous.
There are already plenty of parking places for the stores, the occasional problem is caused by those who are too mean to pay for the use of the Charlton Centre parking area when they go shopping in the rest of Dover.

The access at the side of the building by the weir is very narrow and only just wide enough for the footpath a car would never get through.

It is an eyesore and Morrisons should address it, put something there that will enhance the area not drag it down.
