Very interesting agenda.Paul Watkins and Jim Hood will be made Alderman,Council Tax,16 Questions and three motions.Busy night for the Labour group as most questions put by them and the motions.I wonder if the press will attend, seems they get most info from face book.It would be good to see more public attend these meetings instead of shouting from the side lines.

The public don’t attend because anything they say is utterly ignored or the questions asked are never answered fully

The local press used to cover council meetings but they are down to bare bones staff wise, the last one I can remember them covering was the planning meeting over the Farthingloe development.

Cherry I'm talking about Dover District not Dover Town Council.

Everything to pot in this town mainly people of Dover to last to hear anything whats going on were all bloody sheep at the end of the day with no voice. We haven't even got a MP leaves the only bit of voice we had missing, what that saying.
If only everyone could be kind and honest what a better world we would be in.

Press is owned by higher investors I believe in this town, so don't much on them anyway and news they dish out seems a little short of whats going on.
If only everyone could be kind and honest what a better world we would be in.

Absolutely Sue. Always remember THEY are supposed to be working for YOU.
If you don't like what they are doing phone them up, write them a letter, e-mail them, ask them what they are doing with YOUR money and why. If nothing else it makes them feel wanted!

You will find there are rarely hidden agendas and it's usually cock-up rather than conspiracy and most of them are actually well-meaning if occasionally deluded!
Finally if you don't like the buggers - vote them out or even consider standing yourself.

Wherever you go people will say that their council is the worst but most people don't bother to vote at all at local level.

Good question from Gordon and will be interesting to see the answer.
Councillor G Cowan will ask the Portfolio Holder for Access and Licensing, Councillor N J Collor: “This council and more importantly the people of Dover district have waited for over two decades for the new DTIZ to open, many who rely on public transport. Can the Portfolio Holder for Access & Licensing advise this council what steps have been made to provide good transport links to the new DTIZ shopping centre located at St James?”

Not such a good question, nothing to do with DDC or its leader.
Councillor S F Bannister will ask the Leader of the Council, Councillor K E Morris:
“Is the Leader of the Council as concerned as our Independent MP for Dover that the proposal to introduce a ‘Dad’s Army’ Border Force would be a calamitous mistake?

WADR I believe all Charlie is proposing is an expanded version of something like the National Coastwatch
https://www.nci.org.uk/ which supliments H M Coastguard.

I thought Charlie was campaigning against the proposal as did Cllr Bannister.

I was rather hoping that we would get a rundown on last evening's meeting, so many things being discussed eg bus service to St James, road tolls, tram shelter protection.

Cllr Collor gave his usual reply.Stated that Stage Coach were the providers,he advised only one bus currently goes via Market Square. He then went on to say h had a meeting in two weeks time with Stagecoach,so no rush there considering the shops will soon be open at St James .Bearing in mind the bus operators have to apply for route changes.Rightly as Gordon stated this was discussed two decades ago and I was on that working group and we stated it had to have a bus link.Re TramShelter I think the reply was to improve CCTV.

“Is the Portfolio Holder for Access and Licensing able to say if for Dover District Council has applied to the government for funding that is available (£1.5 million with further funding to follow) for the installation of car charging
points?”
Cllr Collor stated that the offer of Government funding was so good that there 'had to be a catch', that these new fangled so-called electric cars would never catch on and that in his opinion electricity was the work of the Devil.

Do you know what the actual answer was to that question? Would be interested to know.
