I wonder if the Day Star Book Room was to do with the Day Star Mission set up by Isabella Baker at Prospect House 1908-1938?
Been nice knowing you :)

Love those dresses, I will be donning Victorian mourning dress for the Lambeth cemetery open day on Sunday - I hope it's not raining!

a couple of things here in post 29 there is a reference to cricket week, as it played up at crabble in those days?
secondly the article on drunk at 18 could be fitted into a newspaper today and nobody would bat an eyelid.
i notice the name of the arresting officer was "husk" a forebear of roger maybe?

I think Kent used to play at Crabble now and then so that would be a possible for the cricket week.

I saw Lancashire play Kent at Crabble when I first came to Dover 1971/72. I can't remember if it was a one day match or what.(Did they have one day matches in those days?). I remember Colin Cowdrey was playing.
