The headline is a bit misleading as any planning application would be for drilling initially but Tilmanstone locals will watch things with interest.

The last line in that report says that "the only prevailing argument is about money".
Maybe so but there is no benefit to the consumers in terms of lower energy prices, George Osborne and others have made that quite clear.

open your eyes Vic!! The oil prices been down for months and not been passes on for whatever reasons!! I can assure you when they do go up, we will know about it. One small disaster ruins a very large area and its a huge fret to the wildlife.
I hate the direction humans are going full of greed and no shame and conscious whatsoever... and you want the young Generation to look up to these people as leading examples??? NO WAY !!!

Virtually every single scare story you've read is untrue Heike. Flaming taps, earthquakes, poisoning etc. are myth.

I thinking Fracking will come we need it to at this time, as I said it is keeping the costs of oil down and oil will runout at some point might not be in my life time but it will run out or the cost of getting out of the ground or sea will go so high that the man in the street will have to say good bye to the car.

Fracking is a success in countries with wide open spaces and where enviromentalists have to take a back seat.
Works well in the States.

Fracking is fine. You just have to do it where there's no chance of drilling through strata holding drinking water. Earthquake risk is grossly exaggerated. Fracking using bores through the East Kent aquifer is a no-no. But if they set up drilling installations at Samphire Hoe or on the Goodwin Sands that would provide a lot of energy and many jobs for years to come. Anyway, the oil price won't go back up to $100 for at least 5 years so we have time to have the debate.
