Spotted this young lady as I was working on my latest model, she was sitting under our bird feeders, eating some peanuts that my wife had put down for the badgers! The shots were taken on my Nikon compact, through the double glazing, she is one of a family that live in the scrub at the top of our gardens and so is also featured in the images posted by Heike.

Lovely set of photos Phil, Watty posted some last year also taken through a window.
Interesting that you mention badgers, I had a hole dug in my back garden a few months back that my neighbour said was the work of a badger but I can't see how he would get into my garden in the first place.

I know foxes aren't well liked but they are so sweet!
There's always a little truth behind every "Just kidding", a little emotion behind every "I don't care" and a little pain behind every "I'm ok".

You wont like them if they come down to your door, and start marking their territory, they are worse than any cat smell, you cant have your windows open, because the smell gets up your nose, or let your pets in the garden, as you have to watch they do not pick up anything from the foxes, the young are full of worms, and where they wipe themselves on the ground your animals can get mange, which will then cost you a lot of money in vets bills to get rid of, not such nice animals, this lot are along the top of Hardwicke road, and are a pest to the family whose garden they are nested behind, hopefully the council will be moving them on shortly

Lovely to look at but otherwise they are horrible animals.
As Sheila says the smell is absolutely awful and they kill not just for food, imagine coming back from shopping in the middle of the day to find they have killed all your breeding ducks leaving them all around the garden but minus their heads.

Whatever you do don't mention the Folkestone road Brian, they will see it as a banqueting hall.

well its not the foxes fault.. I have no issues with them been around. You need a good common sense and go along with it. Its human fault Sheila not their fault. I see people feeding seagulls etc ... this is interfering too.
If People be more cautious and careful with their waste the foxes wouldnt even look for it. Again there are alot of Residents who do not care about it and it becomes a problem. Dont always put the problem on animals when it is clearly a human failure.
I resepect the foxes but I think they are cute :)

Heike this resident is a very clean person, also disabled, the smell is not good for her, she does not encourage them, her refuse is shut in a large plastic storage unit until refuse day, then put out just as dustmen are coming down road, so she is not encouraging them, also she has two very expensive little dogs that cannot go out into the garden, she has to keep her curtains closed as the dogs go mad when they see the foxes in the garden, they are pests, cute but still pests.

Hi Sheila. You know until I read your post #6 I didn't know about all that. I can well understand why you feel like you do, it must be awful for you and your neighbours and also your dogs. It's certainly changed my view of them - nasty things foxes. Bad enough with all the cats where I live but sounds like foxes are far worse (the smell).
Take care Sheila x

Sheila, She might be all fine, But do you know if other residents be as good? Foxes arent Humans, These animals cant see what is expensive and what is not. As for the smell and trying to keep them away, the Lady you referring to can ask for advise. Ask the local vets if they dont know themselves usually still can give you other useful information.
Sorry if I sound harsh.
Also if the dogs are resonable in size, The foxes will not attack them. Actually they will stay away as they can smell dogs markings.
Tell you what humans are worse then a view foxes in the garden. I had them in my garden again this morning. It was a joy wathching all of them. Over an hour, Playing, running around, catching flies, jumping etc. My little Girl was static and so was my son. Both watched them with fascination. At the same time we gave them both a bit of backround knowledge about foxes. This I can assure you will not be forgotten in a childs mind.

Heike did get advice, use the same stuff that is used for cats, but it does'nt work, alternatively it will cost £40 per hour to get rid of, and in an hour they may only be able to take out one, so could cost an arm and a leg, ought to do what farmers done years ago and gas them out
