This thread and one or two others does make me giggle ( very loudly )
Back in the days of a certain group I used to run there was promises of " don't worry we will catch these people, we will have secret cameras all over the place in coke cans, visual cameras (cctv) and people patrolling.
No one was EVER prosecuted.
It seems people are put in place with a title but never or very rarely react to what the public expect.
Good wages for doing nowt.
Once the tip start charging god knows what will happen.

Once the tip starts charging (it is a KCC tip) it will substantially increase fly-tipping - what else do they expect ?

Now we know why we got/will get those large bins it is to take the stuff we used to take to the tip ourselves.

Saw one of the staff at the Council phone answering dept and told her the Town Council are getting calls because some people are spending upto an hour trying to get through to DDC,and she said it is mayhem, the staff have been cut and all calls about the wheelie bins are being answered there because Waste Services cant deal with the volume of calls!

I'm sure there are some top-level talks and discussions going on at the moment. I only seem to be having emails about them and the (negative) effect they are having on the ward and area.
The initiative - to provide greater re-cycling facilities, is a very good one, my concern and many residents in the ward, is the inappropriateness of many of the wheelie bins.

Yesterday was refuse day opposite the shop, it looked really awful outside the old Salvation Hall flats with their great pile of black sacks.
There seemed to be a lot more rubbish than when they had a large commercial style bin.

Just to let everyone know the Fly tipping that Ken Tranter reported was taken away and I have heard today that there are a couple af address's in the rubbish and it looks as if the Council could prosecute.

will they carry it through though?
a court case reported in the local press would send a strong message to any future fly tippers.
my guess is that after a bit of soul searching the decision will be that it is too expensive to prosecute.
we know that attitude from the lack of action on landlords with derelict property.

The fly-tipping (roofing tiles etc.) has now been removed from the Drop Redoubt Road area. I was reliably informed it was removed Friday afternoon.

Thank you for letting us know Roger - it's taken a month but better late than never. I wish CCTV could be placed in that area due to amount of dodgy activity that takes place up there.
