- 27 August 2012 12:04188778Yes indeed, Deal looked fabulous yesterday and very busy too. The bandstand was in full swing with lots and lots of people sitting around it on lovely white chairs enjoying the brass band, the Sailing Club was busy and the cafe there was doing a roaring trade al fresco. There were loads of beautiful flowers everywhere.
Along the popular Pier end of Deal seafront the cafes and pubs were packed to the rafters and doing very well al fresco too. The local ice cream company Solley's were cycling up and down the seafront on a tandem complete with their straw hats and sun brolly and of course the other local ice cream establishments were doing very well too. Interesting to note the large car park just behind the seafront by the library was free, yes I did say free, so Sunday parking was more than affordable!!
A super very enjoyable way to spend a lazy bank holiday Sunday afternoon
This was taken further up along the seafront, I've included this pic as the kayak complete with paddle that you can see in the distance was the first time I've seen one with an outboard motor
Pirate ship spotted at the boatyard in Deal. Took these on my phone but MrB will obviously have a much better photo

His hanging-baskets are lovely too, but he buys them; Martin and Sonia who now own our old guest house as well as Sandown Guiest House next door have beautiful personally made-up baskets up at the front of their house.

I wonder if Mikey Potts has any info re the bandstand and on the band appearing. Was it his own guys?? We had a look to see if we could spot PauliWatkins in his straw hat..but no.

I took this one in the seafront gardens on the morning of the merchant navy day service..
I cheated slightly as I did a quick hamfisted airbrushing out of a couple of bits of unfortunate litter...you can probably spot it. Normally the litter is very well cleared away.
Also just to note the Norwegian Memorial small garden has been rebuilt. You might remember it was flattened for the Olympic roadshow..now rebuilt but with no flowers. After the merchant navy day service there were some people having a picnic right there on the grass, Lets hope they cleared up their litter.
