Well done to the volunteers and I wish you luck when you get round to the Morrisons area, the workmen left a lot of cleared rubbish including a large lump of wood.

Thanks Jan.
We cleaned Buckland Bridge, Barton Path and Pencester. We only had about ten volunteers so couldn't make it up to Kearsney this time. Unfortunately the silt by Morrisons is just to dangerous to go into at the moment so we had to leave it for now. The pumps the EA used sucked out great sinkholes in the sediment underneath so although the silt looks compacted and even on the surface, it isn't underneath. A casual step the wrong way and it could be a SHLOOP! of doom. I'm sure things will settle down.

Give me a shout next time, Phil. First I have heard of this clean-up or I would have been there to help. I would love to muck about in the river and have a pair of unused waders ready and waiting.

OK Ed. For your diary it's the 30th May. 10:30 Morrisons as usual.

Darn. I am rejoining my ship today for two weeks, then two weeks off, then rejoining again on 29th May. Nothing ever works out! Looks like my waders are going to remain virginal.

They were doing their usual excellent job when I went past just now. A couple from the BBC were also there to film the River Dour as part of a wildlife programme, I hope they manage to film the moorhen with her youngsters.
Nice to have a quick chat to a certain gentleman (who I will not name to spare his blushes) after he managed to climb the railings.
