17:2088057A quick search on 'seaplane' Howard. The building is a disgrace now but only because it has been allowed to get that way. It's extremely historical so it's unfortunate that it wil just turn into a pile of rubble. C'est la vie.

17:3988059I looked into renting/leasing that building a few years back. In the state it was in, they wanted £35,000pa, and the new owners were required to make any repairs. It is no wonder that it remains empty and falling to bits. So we have this on one side of Dover, the dilapidated petrol station on the approach from the A2, the awful mess along Townwall Street. It is no wonder that Dover cannot attract investment into the town. We look like a third world slum. Surely the council, with forewarning, can make improvements and charge the owners for maintenance?
Although on the plus side, it is another area for wildlife.....

18:3188067it has been done by other councils, on the subject of dilapidation what will happen in our next big freeze and more masonry falls from buildings in the town centre?
who does one sue after having one's head removed from the shoulders by a fast descending boulder?

20:1888090They only paid about £40k total for it and put it on the market for £400k !!!
Surprised they haven't cut their losses and disposed of it cheaply by now, but all the time there is talk of an alternative access to Dover Castle from there.....
Been nice knowing you :)

08:1888120This must be an ideal candidate for a section 215 letter.
Maltby's are the agents I believe; they won't of course be ashamed of themselves for the state of the building, but most Dover people are disgusted by it.
Compulsory purchase would be good, but doubtful.

The poor building has had all it's roof tiles taken off. I'm not sure if they have been stolen or removed by the owners. The unfortunate place is on its last legs.

Talking about something is better than ignoring it.

I try to be neutral and polite but it is hard and getting even more difficult at times.

I'm sure this is on the list of section 215s that has been drawn up by the Planning Enforcement Officer at DDC - I'll check with him just in case.

#31 I think you qualify for that prize Vic, number of posts made, number of parisn council meetings attended, public meetings attended etc.
Opinions expounded indeterminable.
You may consider this a compliment depending what side of the bed you got out Vic.
