Howard. Ours is like it after the refuse collections on Thursdays. This morning I have been onto Veolia once again about the state of the road after the collections and no one returned return call back. I rang again this afternoon and demanded to speak to a supervisor who assures me that Mount Road will be deep cleaned tomorrow Friday and will be carefully monitored from now on! Last time I wrote to Veolia I copied in Charlie Elphicke MP and he did write back to me, perhaps I may just forwarded this to Veolia as a reminder.

My advice Howard, would be to do the big society thing. That is, put on your marigolds, pick it all up and dump it back on their doorstep, putting anything particularly small and smelly through the letter box.

It is not always possible to put rubbish out in the morning some go to work the previous day and are not back until after collection time. I have a neighbour who sometimes has to put the bins out the previous day or they would not get put out at all.
The refuse collectors should be told to collect from inside gates, I avoid Albert Road on Thursday morning when going to work because the rubbish is often all over the pavement.

i notice that we have has similar comments from brian in the remote village of aycliffe through to paul baker in the mountainous terrain of maxton saying exactly the same thing.
time for some action i believe on this issue, it clearly irks most people.

Be prepared for the answer along the lines of............... 'time and motion have said it is more cost effective to collect from the pavement, not inside front gates'.

Vic that would be great if you could put these views across, I have been in Deal on refuse collection days and they do a better job & Deal look so much cleaner. WHY!!

Because it isn't Dover !
O.K. that may not be helpful, especially from a Dover Councillor, but there are many things that are allowed to go on in Dover that are most definitely NOT allowed in say Sandwich or Deal.
Real thought, consultation and action (and care too of course) should be made about the whole problem of litter and household collection.

I WILL do that thank you for telling me,yes we are in D eal alot and the town is much cleaner then our own ,but must say the public of Deal themselfs do look after it better then some in Dover. How many in Dover even on this forum put out black bags,a Dustbin only costs a few pounds to buy get one today tell members of the public round you to do the same,I do but most now do do that but still I have to go out and clean their mess up,but I tell them and I hope in the end all get a dustbin
I cannot lift a dustbin. Would you care to come and do it for me?

But you won't be able to use a dustbin after September so that would be a complete waste of money

I have always used a dustbin because during the week the local cats breaking into black sacks as soon as I put one under the steps.
I just wish the binmen would put my house number clearly marked dustbin back in my driveway where it came from not next door's entrance.
Bern, I drag my dustbin when lovely daughter forgets to put it out.

Vic,
With all these meetings you are going to you still haven't taken in the message, dustbins are out , wheelie bins are in.
