22:2776976My dogs ( 2 Patterdale terriers ) had a walk up at Connaught park yestarday.
Since yesterday midday one of them ( Alfie ) has not been well at all. Constantly sick and other nasty bits.
The walk consisted of a walk past the redundant pond where they played for a while and carried on.
An emernency visit to the vets confirmed he has picked up or contracted something, on antibiotics, still laid out on the the floor he is not picking up at all and I am now very concerned and am thinking of another emergency call out.
After speaking to relatives and friends, their dogs have also had a problem after going to the park.
So please be wary until I can confirm my dog has had the all clear or to say what has happened??????
I do hope hes ok

be very wary of vets here, when i lived in ilford, many dogs caught bugs off of the lake.
the vets diagnosed cancer and charged a fortune, it transpired that it was just a bug in the water that gave off the symptoms.

22:4576979Yes Howard I am very wary, I've had dogs all my life but to see my dog at the moment is no laughing matter.
The wife is staying down stairs tonight (

) just to keep an eye on him.
We realy are worried.

22:5376982understand that ian, all very stressful.
dogs and cats seem to be very good at treating themselves, doesn't stop you and the missus having a sleepless night though.
forum members will be thinking of you though.

23:3576994I'm sorry to hear that Ian, F1 has been walked around River & Temple Ewell by friends while Colette has been unwell, so will avoid Connaught for a while.
I hope that the antibiotics kick in and your dog gets better

00:3776999We had a Siamese cat. She always slept on my bed, and we were great friends. Once I was far away, for some time, but in a dream I suddenly saw the cat, she looked at me and miowed once. It was distressing. A few days later I got back home, and my mum informed me that the cat had gone missing and never returned. It had gone exactly on that day when I saw her in the dream.
It hurt me imensely.

08:0777007I think it will be worth while contacting the council, they might be able to tell you if any chemicals have been used recently at Connaught.
I hope your dog is on the mend.

09:4077040Jeezez terrible situation Ian...you can see the pictures sent in by reader Peter Hart recently, now on page 2 copy 122 of the ALL RECENT FEATURES archive, it shows this pond looking every inch the cesspit. It was officially emptied but now refilling of its own accord according to my information.
Everyone should avoid it but yes let DDC know.
I will see if I can refind that picture to reproduce here in a minute.

11:3977053I thank you all.
This morning when I left the house Alfie was still the same, I was hoping the injection would have kicked in by then.
On my break at the moment and he's still in the chair were I left him this morning still looking very sad indeed, I had to carry him into the back garden so he could do his thing and he wobbled back in like an OAP, fast asllep again now. I'm baffled.
He will be on antibiotic tablets starting this afternoon and will have to wait and see what happens.
To be honest, if I contacted the council what could they possibly do?
Once again thanks.........I will keep you posted.

12:2377055Just spoke to the Envior Health at DDC and told them of our concerns, and called both vets to tell them of the concerns about Connaught Park,if they get lots of cases they will phone DDC and inform them.DDC will investigate and see if there is a problem but if the vets phone in and say we have an outbreak, and they find out if the common denominator is Connaught it would add to the case.
Hope Alfie is better soon Ian!

13:1777057Darren Solly from Parks and Gardens has just called to say that as far as he knows nothing has been used up there, the pond was cleaned and heavy water jet used and then the water was sucked out again. But he will monitor this area and wants anyone to let him know if this keeps happening.
