thanet d.c. always look like a bunch of buffoons judging by the things that emanate there but they have pulled off a winner here.
on top of the success of the turner gallery they now have this which should finally reverse the fortunes of beleaguered margate.

Council Officers do good jobs all the time, it's when politics get involved that they look like a bunch of idiots !!
Been nice knowing you :)

i was referring to the councillors paul, they are continually throwing their toys out of the pram, throwing sulks and sometimes changing parties.
the people of thanet deserve better from their elected representatives.

I think they may be forgetting the business of an amusement park.
Customers go to these places for the excitement; I just don't think a ride on the old tubs will cut it with the x.boxs generation.
But I do hope I am wrong.

disagree keith this is not about attracting yoof but headlining on heritage.
a great moneyspinner, take vintage car shows for example, people turn out in droves to admire them and take photos then climb into their modern car which is 10 times more reliable to drive home.

Naa that was PG -Well I don't know about strange-at least they love their heritage. I understand that there is even a group who are going to restore the Dreamland 10 1/4" gauge steam railway. The 2 original locomotives survive-there were 2 Barnes Atlantics one of which is at Preston. Good luck to all of them.
Never give up...

Many people moan about our history and why is there nothing here but history. Dover is an historic Town and should promote this much more - there are a number of sites that are crying out for more visitors and run by hard-working volunteers: Dover Transport Museum, Western Heights, Crabble Corn Mill, Roman Painted House are just 4 of them.
They all do their best and should be lauded for their efforts to maintain and promote the sites they work so hard for.
WCCTA are now worrying about changing their name - a name change won't make them more efficient and more useful to the historic sites and attractions here.
I know it sounds like an old record, but I have sent the new Chairman of WCCTA my Tourism Strategy and I haven't even received an acknowledgement - or even a thanks but no thanks.
The local tourism industry is crying out for change, better support marketing and they're worried about what to call themselves.
If we had a successful tourism body, we would have much better visited sites and they in turn have have more footfall and income.

yes there is roger, but the trick is getting the council [both] to promote them and getting tourists to stay for a few days to go and see them.

WCCTA is separate from both Councils, but supported by both too.

Dreamlands/Bemboms was a bit rubbish back in the day, and probably not big enough to attract the masses that thorpe park etc attract, so don't really see how this is going to help a great deal.

Positive council, now that is funny. Since 1990 and probably before, successive councils have promised us regenaration, where is it? Twenty two years of legal wrangling we are told, must be the longest case in English Legal History.
I know you work hard for the people of this town Sue but a museum that was forced to close and then re-opened is hardly a positive step, A positive step is to open the loos on the seafront for a start and use Rogers idea for a market, it would certainly liven up the town a little.
Forget about more history, let us have something for the future and I don't mean a war memorial on the Western Heights.

Don't forget the efforts of the Dreamland Trust who have done most of the hard work in securing vintage and classic ride and have battled hard for many years

Sadly Dave no council has a magic wand and can't FORCE any investment from shops or leisure facilities, they can only do what they can with limited money to try and make things happen
Been nice knowing you :)

Dave 1.The Musuem was closed because of flooding but it has been refurbished so the VIC can operate from there .The front of the Musuem has been changed .Have you looked down there recently ??Small steps at a time .This has been a positive action.
