tried the other half of the promenade today, still the original and still a very pleasant walk on a sunny day.
the sea was a bit playful today, there were actually 3 people that had just finished their swim when i arrived.

Whilst we tend to mope around this time of year, shivering under leaden skies, it's nice to appreciate a fine winter's day. This pano was taken in DECEMBER

(2008).
No-body questions the natural and stunning vista's of the Harbour or Seafront..although it did have more interesting ships coming in and out....
If you turn left, by the Yaught Club.....and walk toward the East Cliff, there is no-where to have a cup of tea or a snack, by the Sea side....only Premier Inn..but nothing casual.....
I cannot understand why the kiosks are only open in the Summer, and then it is only one of them.....I would like to see more choice, because many people cannot afford £19.00 for Fish and Chips...........a little more choice and flair would be welcome.....
If you are walking your dog, and enjoying the day...there is no-where...
That is all ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,Thank you....

Charlie you can get fish n chips in Millers ( The Premier Inn Marine Court) for about £5 and I kid you not. Its pleasant in there too, so you can enjoy them in nice surroundings. Thats about as low a price you can get anywhere, so all tastes are catered for on the seafront and in a very affordable way. £5 for fish n chips is very fair.
So there you are...cheer up...all is not lost..
We have spoken about the kiosks for years on here...essentially its the obvious problem, it doesnt pay. Huge amount of days where there is next to nobody at all on the seafront. Staff wages, insurance and all the usuall added extras make it unaffordable to keep kiosks open...although they probably do open on sundays although Im not certain. Simple business philosophy here...if it paid someone would be happy to do it.
Good pictures lads. Very colourful spreads, lifts the spirits so it does.

I see the battered cod comes with both chips and fries. And I saw a couple of beer-battered specimens walking around town late last night.

Like many I too enjoy a stroll along the promenade. I think the newly built esplanade is attractive although the walk normally ends up with my blood pressure being raised ever so slightly having to make my way through dog mess and litter.
One thing to note is the poor design of the floor which consists of a fine gravel glued with resin to the sub structure. Inevitable this is not wearing well and I suspect will look awful in five years time. Cracks are developing and thermal movement have caused a difference in levels between expansion joints.
If the designers had planned for this by choosing to use an alternative this problem might have been avoided.
